An "old house" is a good enough excuse for render to crack in 6 months?

In my case I had lime used. I hear this should make it more flexible and last a bit longer...
To be fair the gutter was misaligned... so during this winter I had water streaming down this section where the cracks formed. So my lime aint dodgy then? I wouldnt have thought 3 months of rain would still be enough for cracks to form in decently mixed/applied render?

Or am I overestimating render durability and underestimating persistent dmage that water can do over even a period of months.

I had water come through the other side form the cracks btw.

Thanks.

Push a Filler Gauge though the crack if it exceeds the depth of render and continues, its followed a substrate crack and not a problem with the render.

Lime is self healing cracks should heal up if not your f**k*d
yeah exactly this is why Im worried. Though the gutter was misaligned so maybe continued water prevented the self healing. Is fixed now, canopy also fixed, windows and sills also sorted.

First crack was between sill and canopy (filled with lime paste and more limewash), second one (which was filled with ct1 is where its circled)

Havent had any other problems elsewhere, so was hopefully just the gutter's fault..

However at the back Ive got what looks to be the same problem with a bad gutter (which pisses me off cos its a brand new roof/gutter) Limewash is used so can clearly see the flow of water, looks like limewash/lime combo is very useful for diagnosing bad roofing! The render will surely fail here too it seems innit?

Don't think it's your problem mate if you follow your crack down the way it lines up with crack running through the cement moulding more structural I would say

Lime rendering is not cheap it’s expensive as f**k,clearly gone for the cheapest quote
haha yeah.. what gave it away mainly lol. Also sadly nobody else would do anything but patch repair which would have been an even bigger mistake with the state of the place. waited almost 2 years to find someone whod redo the mess place in full.

Thanks all.

Do the roof tiles over hang above the catchment of the guttering or does water come off roof tiles and miss the gutter and go down fascia?
