Timber frame on existing rendered cavity extension

We're currently building a timber frame extension on top of our existing extension which is rendered. I know I can cement board then render over the timber frame but what's the best way to deal with the section where the timber frame meets the old extension but keep a cavity open for drainage if any water was to get behind?

Pictures please

Best I can show as the other side is covered in tarp.

You need a vented channel at the bottom of the carrier board and make sure that the render manufacturer you use says their materials are ok to go onto the board you’re using

Any idea how we can achieve this whilst trying to match up the renders of the new and old extension? We are using EWI base and top coats which they state are good to use on all cement boards. I did just realise I forgot to buy some primer though

Is this a self build and you're going to render it yourself?

What manufacturer is the board

No it'll be contracted.

I'm actually unsure, it was picked up by my builder. EWI just states it can be used on cement boards. We spoke with them on the phone and they seemed okay with it all but we didn't discuss a way to vent the bottom where it joins the old extension.

Just need to work that part out...

It also needs venting around the soffit too!
Around window frames need ventilating and a deflection head needs installing too. I’m sure you’ll be fine, sounds like you got it all under control
