on a job, got talking to customer today asked him what he did for a living,
tells me he is retired, he is 39
had a buisness selling bottles of gas to gypsies/homeowners/caravan owners/etc etc etc
had an offer from a national firm 4 years ago for his buisness, a very good offer,
not a millionaire , nowhere remotely near,
but enough to buy a house outright/ nice car/holidays/ , as long he is sensible with it and not go daft with money, he is financially secure for life
puts his days in okay,
his wife has taken a part time job in a school , just to get out the house now, and talk to somebody different, both having to adjust but the money helps,

I think you have told this story before .

I always thought you'd need more than that to retire that early? Inflation won't be his friend if he hasn't invested his money wisely.
@Danny I bet you know to the penny how much would be needed to retire really early?

I have worked out what I need to retire and it was on target for 45.... but the cost of living and inflation is playing a little havoc with it :D

A spread sheet is key and also not being a flash c**t...

Search the 4% rule or the safe withdrawal rate, you’ll find out the total pay you’d need to retire or be “financially independent“ which is better I think. It’s not as much as people believe they need especially with massive rises in assets over the last 2 decades

Don’t fckuin blame ya!

Sounds good, don’t think I could retire
I’d do other things, would love to own a few properties that need doing up so I can give my mates work when they have none and it funds itself, I’d never be able to sit at home all day, not good for the head and the mrs would do my f**k**g head in

did a job for someone recently who'd retired early - went and got a part-time job at B&Q as a serf just to stop himself from going gaga and talking to the walls.
My mates are apparently panning a retirement party for me next year, wasn't in my plans, ok I'll be 67 but won't have enough money to do what I'd want to do if I retired.
Sitting in an empty house on my own with not enough money to go out does not appeal, or being a part time serf.

As long as you enjoy what your doing, that's what I think is important. Its fortunate that you have the skills to carry you through. Being a serf is definitely a sorry state of affairs. Needs must though, for some less fortunate ones.

If I retired fully I'd have to get a job with Albanian gang within a year ! :buitre:
Pays better than B&Q orlolly pop man ?
:coffe:
