Metal ceiling batons and ceiling fans

Hi all, I'm in the process of renovating my house, in the future I would like to replaster the ceilings. I've been researching metal clip batons that you then attach the plaster to and i like the idea that they mitigate potential cracking by allowing for movement of the joists without putting stress on the sheets. I think I understand how they work, but I don't understand how you attach a ceiling fan if using these.

Presently the old sheets are screwed directly to the ceiling joists, so the ceiling fan is just screwed to the ceiling joists through the sheets. I should clarify that it is a skillion roof and so I don't have access to the ceiling from above.

If you use batons, you will have a gap between the sheet and the ceiling joist, so what is the preferred method of securing a ceiling fan?

i guess you could just add in some timber to the depth of the batons and screw the ceiling fan to that, but then aren't you defeating the purpose of the batons in that now the ceiling is screwed to the joists and can no longer allow for movement?

Cheers.
