Stop bead around firebird

Hello

I've been left some stop bead by a stove installer, but I'm unsure where it's supposed to sit. See photos, should it butt up to the side of the firebird or on top so that the metal edge is on the inside of the reveal ?

stop bead goes on the wall and the back of it butts up to the board. if you put it on the other way you would have to hand-form your wallplaster edge. - which is perfectly possible but needs nouse to do and leaves a weak edge if you're doing it in gypsum.
