Removing solid coving

Hi, removing coving from a room so that I can then overboard a ceiling (yes I've thought about dropping ceiling or overboarding with shadow gap but after extensive reading/ advice decided to go with this option).

All the YouTube videos/ threads on here for removing plaster coving seem to suggest knocking through the coving, getting a bar behind it and then popping out. However, as you can see, mine is solid with no gap between coving and lime mortar behind.

Currently I'm just going at it using a hammer and chisel- slow work and taking off chunks off the lime mortar and plaster behind and the plaster on the ceiling. The damage doesn't matter too much as I am skimming walls and ceiling, after overboarding ceiling. But does anyone know a quicker way?? Seen multitool mentioned, how would that work??

Please tell me you're going to get it recorniced properly, and not just throw up some crappy over-simplified modern-day generic coving?

I love cornice it is a real shame! I've had customers saying we don't like it! I think there crazy

2 of my pet peeves are 4inch pencil round skirting and cheap-ass coving (or no coving at all).

No class.

Nice bit of 7" or 9" Torus or Ogee skirting and some solid plaster traditional cornice always makes Victorian and Edwardian properties look a class apart from modern houses, IMO.
