Hi all,

First time self builder looking for some general advice to ensure I don't make the plasterers life too difficult.

Mark.

Stay out of the plasterers way is my best advice let them do all prep as we know how we want things done! Just keep bringing them tea and maybe bacon sandwiches and possibly a nice bit of cake around 2.00pm

Cake at 2.00pm BS, I thought you are known as the Cinderella Plasterer, gone by 12 o'clock.

Get good biscuits. Choc hob nobs . Don't be shy with bacon sandwich . Make sure you can make a brew how some one asks.
And if you ask if they want owt from chippy tell em it's on you or they will just say no .

Or is that just me @Cockney1
Just one thing you forgot, Tea has to be served every morning as soon as you stick 1 foot out of the van and the tea has to be every hour on the hour daily. Other than that you’re spot on geez! (y)

Personally I don't want tea/coffee or bacon sandwiches and cakes bringing in all day. A cup of coffee in the morning is great, other than that just make sure that the job is ready and the preceding trades have done their jobs correctly.
Lastly, and possibly most importantly, make sure your payment is quick at the end of the job

Strange to get someone into do work then not having funds on completion! Happens though! I might go tesco fill trolley up and as I'm walking out just say I'll call back in at some point with money
Thanks!

Funny situation once you take them out of what they know best but then i deal with the wives more even when the husbands are in the trade its a mad world. I guess they just give up on the argument and think f**k it you get them then.. Ive been threatened with il get another plasterer in then i say go on then soon shits herself when shes got to pay out

Thanks for all welcome comments and for the great advice on cakes, tea, coffee, biscuits etc. (y)
However as I have no facilities at the mo it will probably be a case of packed lunches and flasks.
I'm gonna start a thread in hopefully the appropriate place with my questions.

No facilities u got electricity? Buy a kettle! I don't like your attitude one bit I'm afraid I won't be able to help you with anything

Lets see pictures of your self build mate be nice to see.. Is it on private land??
Hi Smooth criminal,
I've put a thread into the general discussion forum with some photo's, any advice on any of the items would be much appreciated.
Yes it is on private land, Can I ask why you wanted to know this?

No mains electric, just a generator at the moment. I will buy a kettle, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and provide food of many types as this seems high on the list of requirements. Not sure what is wrong with my attitude though but you seem to have posted a few less than kind replies when all I am trying to do is prepare the job to make the plasterers time as easy as possible??????

Hi essexandy,
Thanks for reply.
I am doing most of the preceding trades, hence one of the reasons I have asked for specific advice on boarding out in a new thread in the general discussion forum, so far not much help though as I think I made the post too long! With regards money I know that quick payment is always important. (y)

Im very much thinking about doing this myself so will be nice to see your journey

I've been on the journey for many years now. Happy to try and help if I can.
Well were doing the research at the moment for a specialist mortgadge lender all options seem very similar to a bridging loan with much higher er payments.. So looking at the option to save for the land and plod on from there.. Been interesting to see it all so far.
