Would I be right to ask for this to be reskimmed?

Hi there! I was hoping to ask people with expertise as to whether I would be right to ask about getting some elements of a recent skim redone. I really don't want to be a nightmare client and wrongly accuse my plasterer of doing a bad job!

For background - we've had most of our house skimmed, we had a lot of problems getting the wallpaper off some of the plasterboard walls and so some of the walls were in not great condition. Our plasterer recommended a hardwall layer on the walls in bad condition, and he'd do a straightforward skim on the walls in better condition.

Now I'm not sure what happened, and whether the recent heatwave affected the skim, but it seems like the skim on the walls that were in better condition is showing a lot of these minor cracks (or crazing?). If it was on the walls that were in the bad condition I feel like it would be more our responsibility, but because it's instead happened on the walls in better condition I feel like we would be reasonable to ask him to redo?

We frequently have trouble with tearing or small patches of crazing when it’s freakishly hot/ direct sunlight/ warm air blowing through and I was going to say a light sand and a mist coat should sort it out

but looking at those pics it’s a little rough. I’d ask him to pop back. Giving the benefit of the doubt he might have had a nightmare day in the heat. That’s being kind.

All the best

I wouldn't re-skim that and I doubt any decent spread would either, with work as poor as that you can fairly assume that the preparation of the original surface will be equally poor.
If it can be removed it should be and then skimmed properly.

Thanks all I really appreciate your input! Well, I'm relieved that I'm not being overly demanding but am certainly increasingly concerned about the quality of the job.

Not sure about next steps, he was recommended to me by my builder and wasn't any cheaper than the other quotes we got, we went with him because he seemed knowledgeable and helpful (and I thought it'd be easier for him to communicate with our builder). He's going to come back in on Wednesday so I can go through my concerns, I'm hoping he's amenable to fixing it.

Most of the photos I attached were from one room, a box room which seems in distinctly worse shape than the others. I'm honestly wondering if someone else had a go at that one.

I've attached a few photos from other rooms which seem better, do you think the general standard is alright? Enough that it's worth giving him a shot to make it good? I'm going to go back tomorrow and have a thorough check.

It’s a nice feature to leave a massive hole in the corner lol. Terrible job background not prepped properly/ suction not controlled, dirty architraves. Obviously don’t know the situation but his work is poor to say the least.

As much as he pisses you lads off and I don't agree with most of his covid points you can't put him in the chancer and caspered bracket with his work
who says it's his work?
ye can get images from anywhere pal
I've said this before and I'll say it again, I'm not going to take anyone seriously on here who boasts that they have no problem standard boarding a tiled wet area...no excuse for that.....I don't believe any self-respecting tradesperson would do that....it's the work of a clueless chancer with basic d.i.y skills at best.

That’s not as bad as your previous pics. Any trouble with those walls should show when you’ve mist coated them. Hopefully they’ll be fine to paint

maybe someone else did do the box room. I’d query the plasterer and ask your builder too. I mean, why one earth would he recommend someone rough? Unless he’s rough too!

Umbrella your fault got no sympathy for you ! Don’t hire chancers simple . If you had a bad holiday you don’t get your money back! You chose it .
