Afternoon people, just using this site to vent off!

I've skimmed a loft conversion that was boarded out by the customer to save money, I recommended that the boards be staggered as that's common practice, I also said that screws should be used and that the heads should not be sticking out and keep the gaps small.
Get there yesterday to starting skimming, spent 2 hours putting screws in properly and extra screws, replace some boards as they were not done properly, no staggered joints and about 50% of the boards had a massive bounce. Explained all this to him said that skimming on bouncy walls will crack. He was happy for me to skim. After another hour of bonding up to give a nice straight line to skim to, started skimming. Went back today just to finish of a wall and the customer was moaning about the bounce in the walls and some cracks that have appeared with the bounce. I Explained that the price was just for skimming not reboarding. The customer said it should have been done so with that I politely packed up and left the job. I might get paid

Is it me or are people just getting worse.
Thanks for the vent

Get there yesterday to starting skimming, took one look at it all got back in van and fked off back home
:coffe:

Did he use 9.5mm plasterboard?
No, I advised him to use 12.5mm and the boards were 12.5mm, basically after doing some of the boards properly which wasn't in the price, turned out that he just screwed some to the joist and most to the Kings pan insulation, when I told him that he said it be all right.
Some people dnt have a clue

Should have, I know for next time not to.

Just had the customer contact me, he is paying for the work and would like more work doing in the future.
The reason for this is that he got another plasterer round to have a look at the work etc to see if it's any good, the plasterer told him that it's a good job what I've done even with how s**t the boards are as there were still one wall exposed.

I'm not going back.

I skim over many screws sticking out first coat should cover them unless they stick half inch out ha if joint are bad coat them 15 minute before starting skimming. If plastrers can't over come things like this might as well pack it in!

You shouldnt have to though i think the point hes making...
And certainly shouldnt have a nob head customer moaning about there own f**k up..
Why would you go over a screw that deep bit lazy not to just screw the f**k*r in

Putting in extra screws etc and sorting out the bad boarding wasn't in the price and it's more time time consuming which again wasn't in the price. I understand nothing is ever perfect but don't want to be mugged off.

That the way it is m8 you get some that whant save a bit of money on boarding and I don't blame them. But if you can't over come one or two screws sticking out and gaps in board. You remind me of people that have just had experience from college. Welcome to the real world.! Ha.

I've been plastering 6 years since I was qualified and it's been a wide mixture of t on building sites and commercial jobs and council residential, so I've had some s**t days I was just venting off after todays episode.

I had one a couple of years ago overboard of a kitchen ceiling customer said he was gunna board it I got there and it was a fecking shambles he had missed joists the boards were flexing he went through the plasterboard on at least 50% of the job told him I aint skimming over that its a hazard it needs taking down and done properly I gave him a new quote to do it all properly never heard off him again f**k em mate don't put your name on something when the prep isn't up to your standards

And so you shouldnt mate.. But if youre not happy with the prep work always make the point at the start that it will be more or youre not doing it until its put right.
