Random one I've had today...

Just done a quote for a potential client, as soon as I got there to price up I was told they've had another plasterer in and they've quoted 800 quid for the job and said its too high for their liking.

Now I walked through the job with them few heating pipes about I said it would look better boxed in they agree so added this to the quote.

Other plasterer was going to mesh the ceilings, however they are spongey as fook and don't think would take the weight of an over skim. So I recommended to just remove them or overboarding as would be cheaper and cleaner for them.

Added all this into the quote and came out at 790 quid now they think I'm taking the piss even tho I think I've given them a fair price for the work I've recommended.

Now do i just tell them to f**k off or say il just mesh the ceilings at there own risk and bring the quote down 100 quid?

How much work you doing!? Ffs sounds like your too cheap they mugging you off, asif they got a price 4 £800 and told you the truth, ffs man think about it..they have probably knocked £200-£300 off and pretending at £800 to get muggins like you to beg for it and do it cheaper

Two days work dude so not loads in reality... Only asking as not long been doing domestics, Il be making 600 notes off the job if they want me to do it not bad for 2 days work so my business is fine thanks for asking!

You have viewed the job,you have gave them good advice about having pipes boxed in and ceilings overboarded as the ceilings are spongy etc you seem to have gave a good price and they think your taking the piss, feck them off mate there after a clown or chancer to do it all for £200 quid probably, these type of customers use to piss me off but now I've learnt to give them a price and whatever will be will be you can't win them all

Lovely job! I will let them know I'm not willing to drop quality just for the sake of their purse strings... If they come back to me I might not have any availability till after Xmas

Mate everyone on here is on 1000 a day . If your busy just tell em take it or leave it.

You stand by your quote and advice. You start cutting corners and there are problems then you touched it you own it.
Hope you put this in writing vs back of fag packet or back of a card, as you need to get advice across but in this world someone will always undercut you or have a different view of job.
What some would do is say fine. I'll cut cost but this goes against my advice and I'm not taking responsibility.
If someone wants a cheaper price the take something away from job but not how I rock.

Priced job up 9 days (did allow a bit as I ain't rushing) was £1575 if memory serves. Lost job to someone half my price that did it in 3. I'm still puzzled. Something ain't adding up? Tell myself to forget it a move one. Dose get to you in the wee hours and play on your mind. Guy doing job had brand new van too..I know the neighbour

You're slow, on poor day rate and expensive haha. Great combination

No change. It could not be done in 3 days. Was stripping paper before that's a days work. Over newish carpet and big oak table. Also wanted ceiling cracks taped and painted 2 coats. All skimmed and primed. I think the job spec changed and they had rethinking and never asked me back to quote again. Maybe
