Mask is only part of it , denial is the indicator of low IQ ,

That's quite a statement.

Have you ever been absolutely certain about something. only to find, years later, that your certainty was misguided? I know I have, and I blush to recollect those occasions. They taught me a very valuable life-lesson: that I should be extremely wary of convincing myself of being 100% certain about anything.

I'm not saying you're wrong about current events - all I'm saying is it's easy to convince yourself, with the TV and politicians adding weight to your belief, that things are 'definitely' what they appear to be, and that others who hold contrasting beliefs are fools.

They may be or they may not be. None of us really knows, yet.

So don’t take precautions?

Friday's developments came after Boris Johnson warned earlier this week that the UK was at a "critical moment" in the battle with coronavirus.

The Prime Minister used a Downing Street press conference on Wednesday to urge people to follow rules aimed at curbing the spread of the virus and demonstrate "forbearance, common sense and a willingness to make sacrifices for the safety of others".

He warned that if the evidence required it "we will not hesitate to take further measures" that would "be more costly than the ones we have put into effect now".

"But if we put in the work together now, then we give ourselves the best possible chance of avoiding that outcome and avoiding further measures," he said.

Chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty meanwhile said the number of people in hospital was rising, particularly in hotspots, although the figures remained at a much lower level than the beginning of April.

"We are pointing out that the direction of travel for both hospitals and intensive care is going in the wrong direction, particularly in these areas that have seen rapid increases in cases," he said.

In a stark warning, Prof Whitty added: "We have got a long winter ahead of us".

Sure, if you feel like that's what you are comfortable doing. That's fair enough.

It doesn't necessarily mean that someone who doesn't believe what the TV and politicians are saying is necessarily low IQ, though.

Personally, I'm watching events play out without getting too emotionally involved, and without trying to draw 100% firm conclusions about it all. It's a very weird chain of events, and there are multiple competing agendas that might have played a part in what's going on, so it's potentially highly complex.

I’m not emotionally involved, there is agendas ie the truth versus Ill informed , the world these days is very changeable , facts and science are the enemy unless it suits , people who read the daily mail and the sun for decades are anti MSM without a hint of irony

Interesting you said TV and politicians, but not scientists and academics

they’ve been brain washed by MSM for decades yet they’re ironically anti MSM , you see the problem is people read what they want to read

"...without a hint of irony"

:coffe:

Scientists are no more infallible than politicians with regards to science? Hmm

We've been socially-conditioned to believe that science and scientists are somehow less fallible than the rest of humankind, and that we would be foolish to question that conditioned belief.

Best summary of this situation so far

We've been socially-conditioned to believe that science and scientists are somehow less fallible than the rest of humankind, and that we would be foolish to question that conditioned belief.
Sorry that makes no sense. As a large proportion of the population refuses to believe science and instead latch on to fake news

They believed in Boris , they believed in the tories , yet they don’t agree with anything Boris has done

Yes and no
None us knows whats truly going on and if we think we do there are prob numrous games at play in addition to the truth
That’s conspiracy’s , what’s going on is there is a pandemic, how bad it will be is what we don’t know , we are hopefully through the worst

And are you the arbiter of which snippets of 'science' pushed in the media are 'True'?

Are you the arbiter of which 'news' is 'Real', and which is 'Fake'?

Are you so certain that there are no currupt (or compromised, or threatened. or blackmailed, etc. etc.) scientists in the world?

Are you so certain that scientists never make honest mistakes with their research? How is it, then, that subsequent generations of scientists have uncovered errors in the work of those who went before them? This is a highly consistent theme in Science.

Are you so certain that there are no hidden agendas influencing what you read/hear/see in the media?

As I said earlier, I don't firmly stand on one side or the other with the current global situation, but neither do I unquestioningly believe what certain scientists/politicians/media corporations/doctors/academics proclaim to the masses. EVERY type of person, in EVERY profession, no matter how much you may revere them, has one or more colleagues who hold an identical qualification, but who hold differing opinions.
