Very rare I work for any1 older than myself

I’d never ask how much another plasterer has quoted while I’m there quoting it’s up to the customer if they want to disclose that information! I’m not bothered about giving silly prices a fair price for a good days graft is all I’m bothered about
I don’t do it all the time because most of my graft is recommended. I’ve asked on a couple of occasions just to be a bit nosey lol, and when I have I’m always the most expensive one, but guess what I always end up getting the job. Last time it happened the customer told me I was near on a grand dearer, I still got the job. You have to know how to conduct yourself professionally and sell yourself correctly in this game.

Just to clarify you would be lucky to swing a cat in a standard size bedroom in a property worth 2-250k probably no more than 50sq m so 600 works out at what £12 a metre I think that’s very reasonable! I must be undercutting myself :ROFLMAO:

I know what you’re saying I’m definitely not cheap I know guys up north that would do the same for £300 and very good spreads I just think there’s a limit where I’m happy to walk away for the day and satisfied with what I’ve earned! Unless I’m rendering then I do hit them hard there ain’t many that can s/c to a high standard these days as all youngsters ain’t been taught it anymore

Cmon it’s morally wrong to charge what you know in your own head will only take a days hard graft to take home £600 is more than any man in this trade should be charging for a days work! We ain’t doctors ffs!

It's morally wrong to accept payment in cash, morally wrong to use promissory notes instead of barter, morally wrong to expect someone to graft twice as hard as someone else yet get paid half as much, morally wrong to value the time of a 30/40/50 year old based on the results of a test they took when a teenager.

We all live/work in a capitalist system (whether we agree with that system or not), that systems means you put a value on your goods or services. If your potential customers agree with the value they pay it, if they disagree they don't.

i turned up to price an extension, knocked on the door, customer said i was plasterer no. 9, i turned round and got back into my van and drove away, and while i see where you are coming from monkey, it does not help our cause when we get situations like this
I priced an extension not long ago, turned out the customer had a morbid fear of single numbers.
He told me i was quote number ten, i thought he might be hard work and added 50% to the bill.
i got the job and am now recommended by him at 50% premium. Turned out to be a cheery guy as well.

Not really, they'd be expensive. If a plasterer turns up to quote for that room and says to the customer that it will be a grand the customer can accept or decline.

It's the same principle for buying anything, I think the legal description is "invitation to treat". The key bit being 'invitation' which can be accepted or declined.
I think to make a contract, you also need to be of sound mind and not under the influence of drink or drugs.
That should discount 87.3% of folk on here.

To some people you charging £450 is extortionate though mate.. but from your perspective it's not.. what makes you right and the guys charging £200 or £600 not.

North vs south everyone up north has to work for peanuts because there still living in the dark ages!

The only people who think I'm ripping them off are my builder's customer's it drives them mad spending months on a project a me walking of with 10% off their profits in a week:ROFLMAO:

Pricing is difficult if I charge £250 to scim a lid on my own,and you charge £350 because you've got a labourer. A bigger set up charges /£600 ect, wotyagonado.
