What does everyone do for artex ceilings? I have been scraping and skimming them and been absolutely fine.
But now thinking I should really tell the client they have to be tested for asbestos before going anywhere near them... Health comes first and all that

What do you guys do...

If you tell all your customers that they need to get their artex ceilings tested for asbestos you will probably only win 10% of them.

Done thousands of them. Never had a problem. I’ve artexed thousands of ceilings and walls n all

By the time you've spent 30mins-an hour scraping it all and then cleaning up 1000 nibs you may aswell just do a thicker cost of multi/bonding. Or just board it, especially if it's only a small ceiling

That crazy cat pva then puts a coat of skim on then let's it set then pva again and starts all over again!

I s**t yer not if I wa clever enough I'd find his thread!!!
I just send lad now.

If theres alot I do that . No skim left over and next sets packed out for you.

I wont scrape s**t anymore.

Except that stair case I got next week.

But after that I wont scrape s**t

Depends on the type of artex, light stipple, 2 coats of PVA and away you go. Anything heavier and I either overboard or couple of scoops of Bonding in the first coat and 2 coats of multi when it picks up. Never scrape it and never mention asbestos to customers as it scares a lot of them.
