Small job pricing

How do you deal with the small jobs people want doing, jobs that basically take 2/3 hours semis local.

i normally try and time them with days I’ve finished a bigger job and I’m passing, but as im sure you all know people don’t want to wait, but don’t understand unless I have another job to tie up with it it’s often not worth doing it as I can make more elsewhere.

i currently have a job about 20 miles away, middle of nowhere that I expect will take me a morning tops, then go back for a a hour or so the next day to finish up. (Small tilling job, labour only in this example). They want me to come yesterday, I’ve said I’d want 100 to 150 But ive nothing to make it up to a full day, so at the moment that would be a low earning day. in any case. The people don’t realise that we have costs and tools to buy and have to live, and are moaning in it’s too expensive, as it stands I’ve left it that they can get someone else if they want I’m not bothered.

im finding this more and more that people expect me to turn up instantly to do a small patching job and i end up getting £20 to £40 As they cant understand we aren’t employed and have costs, its not worth getting the van out.

how does everyone manage this?

Very simple mate when anyone phones up with a small job I say no problem I can do it asap but I have a minimum charge of £250. Is that ok or do you want to try and find someone else? 50/50 whether I get it. Don't think about what other people think just be firm with your prices.

Tell them your a buisness not a charity give them the price what you would normally earn in a day so your making profit and let them decide if they wanna pay it or get a dole dosser in to do it for 20 quid and a pack of benson&hedges I do what at @FreeD Does give them a minimum charge if there happy great if not f**k it

Lads need to forget about days or bits of days. It’s what the job is worth.Breaking it down into days just lowers the value of it.Imagine telling someone who comes out to fix an appliance your only here one hour.

I'm same. It's £180 a day plus materials plis 25℅

Which basically means £225 if it's 2 hrs or 10

I Explain min charge for really small jobs but if its tiny I wouldnt charge for full day do it on top of something else

I do charge ½ day or ¾ of a day. Depends on how busy you are however, don't fall for the line.. Later you can price for larger job if you do this little job..... I think you should have minimum charge... Fuel.Time and materials and is it a good customer that you don't mind helping out just the once...

There’s NO such thing as half a day in our game mate! Charge a full day or nothing.

Is this even a question? How long have you ran a business? Use your head
just checking, I’m a bugger for getting Sucked in, the wife goes mad says we aren’t desperate your not a slave they earn x amount, have holiday and sick pay and have everything provided when they rock up to work, let them go do it theirselves or find someone else, move onto the next job. Except she adds a few f*cks in there.

I got sent a picture other day to give a quote, must of been a fist size hole in corner of a ceiling, would of took me 20mins to cut out square, put a of latt in then board, and a hour and half to skim,so little over 2 hours.priced it at £240..didn't hear back but I don't care.thats the bare minimum my tools are coming out of van for these days

I find those in “good” jobs the worst, rendered a house the other week, the woman goes I’ve had a calculation about the hours you have been here & that’s more than I earn and started trying to pay me her wage. Told her I’d rather take it back off.

Listen to your wife more is my advice

four or 5 half day jobs in a day lmao.

what are they all in the same house ffs.

you working 24 hours in that day ?
Hence why this game is dead,we can't get into the heads of these people im afraid.it rattles me how cheap some people do jobs for,it really does

I do half days all the time, half day is my minimum charge.
i usually wait until i have four or five and do them all in one day.
Like I’ve said countless times there’s NO half days in the Plastering trade. Charge for a full day simples! 4/5 half days fitted into a day? How does that work then? Lol

sigh

He means that if he can do a few two hour jobs in a day and charge s half day for each then he feels he's on to a winner.

Exactly what you can get finished in two hours I'm not sure.

Even if I had say 3 HALF days of jobs to do id still charge a full days pay for these jobs..when will these people who call themselves plasterers see this

i would never call myself a plasterer, not enough hours in the day.
