I was told in B&Q today there is no limit to the amount of bags of plaster you buy in store once you can fit it on your trolley. Larger delivery orders have to be done online but you can't order a pallet. Make of that what you wish. All their plasterboard had 'Make good' on the wrapping.

I plastered a room which was boarded by the customer last week and on the end of the board was make do stamped on the end.
It didn’t skim up too bad.

Where was it stamped?
On the machined edge the paper edge that’s folded over,I just noticed it as I beaded up.
He used the make good dab to put the boards on as he showed me the bag what was left,it’s not bad stuff but the bag is weird like a sort of hessian sack material.
Fair play on the boards make good not bad at all, could of fooled me for bg/knauf.

Got 10 in my local Travis this morning by chance as I picked some boards up for Thursday’s job.
The lads had a bit of a stand off with a customer wanting 20 bags as he’d had the call off the manager.
Think I’m going to change my profession it’s becoming a joke
Is that the Travis at the top of Newcastle

Just looked on b& q website to see if local store has any, and it says no longer stock this product....
Before it said out of stock...

I think B&Q ordered in loads of MAKE GOOD multi to fill the gap until they got BG multi back on the shelves, nobody is buying it cause its shi*e and now they are left with pallets of the stuff.

B&q’s and wickes have both been total c**ts during this plaster shortage!! They both haven’t been supplying trades only, which they should have! and they haven’t put any restrictions on how many you can purchase at any given time!!
Every spread in the land should protest and boycott the horrible profiting c**ts!!!

I guess not many folk here are going to like DIYers like me. I understand its your livelihood but:

I don't see why you should begrudge me 1 bag of multifinish that I need to do up a small room. I really do need it and been checking every few days online but I refuse to pay £30 a bag from ebay. I do agree the sheds should have limits and possibly have higher limits (but still limits) for those with a tradepro card (I have one for Wickes but they're easy to get unlike at say screwfix).

Your argument about its your living which I do understand is similar (isn't it?) to say a new law prohibiting the sale of fairy liquid to anyone except a domestic cleaner because its their livelihood. i.e. a law which says nobody should do their own pots and has to pay for a professional. In case I get flamed for comparing cleaners with plasterers I'm 100% not. I have a huge amount of respect for plasterers. I'm just making a point sticking up for those who like to DIY.

I think I agree with you.
Personally I think that BG shouldn't have sent any gear out to B&Q or Wickes until all of the builders merchants were fully stocked. The trade outlets should have been given priority over those DIY stores.

Of course , it’s the hoarders and profiteers that are the problem

Daft comparison so can’t be arsed to address that one.
But you don’t need it though do you. If plasterers can get it but DIY’ers can’t then you could have just got a plasterer!

Whats happening now,if you have been using one merchant and youre known to them then there is no problem getting the material.

You don’t want to pay a plasterer and refuse to pay £30 on one bag of plaster which would take you over £23 your budget , you sound like the perfect customer if you ever need any work done pause before you pick up that phone and waste anyone’s time

Don't worry- you're not the problem. DIYers taking a few bags to do stuff are always built in to the market sales, that's always happened. In normal times you'd have been part of their sales build up.

The problem is opportunists and profiteering idiots buying it in bulk to sell on, I'd be surprised if any of them were even plasterers. They'll still be hoarding it now in case of a second lock down. The plasterers buying it off them are as much to blame- if nobody bought from these opportunists they couldn't make a quick and easy buck from it.

Who remembers the finish plaster back in the day it was best for high suction surfaces over backing coat plasters it was in a purple and black bag that's probably the best finish I ever used I just finished my apprenticeship at the time then they pulled it and multi took over
The old BG carlite finish came in a black and white bag , and The old bags of carlite bonding was in purple and white bags. BG carlite finish was for high suction backgrounds ie...Browning and bonding.
