Sourcing Plaster....

If anyone has a Hitchcock and kings near them they have been spot on locally. Stayed open throughout, get finish in but do an order system- 10 bags a head but only by order- when it comes they don’t put it out and keep the local lads who have ordered in stock. Won’t sell it to obvious profiteers

The only place I've managed to get bonding was at b@q on saturday on the off chance the missus wanted to look round for house furnishings I saw it on the pallet but didnt have a trolley so I saw one with damaged stock on I dumped that s**t on a empty pallet on the bottom platform and whacked 6 bags on there was about 12 left would of took more but would of tipped my missus Ford fiesta up

I'm not a plasterer, have a lot of respect for those that are and can just about get an almost acceptable skim finish.

I'm old and slow so when I'm doing my walls I need to get as fresh plaster as possible to give me the time.

One thing that struck me from some of those ebay adverts is that they think if its "in date" its fine. Well I don't think its like meat or milk that goes off very close to its date. To me, multi finish (only thing I've used) has a longer working time the fresher it is.

In a roundabout way what I'm trying to say, is that bags sourced from normal merchants and sheds are going to be a lot newer than bags bought second hand. So if you're buying off ebay, you're paying more money AND getting worse product.

I'd be interested to know from you guys if it makes any difference to work with multifinish with say 3 months left on it versus a bag that is due to expire in a few days ?

Just like bacon i will not touch it if it has started to turn green. Hope this helps bruv.

Tried the carlite finish today for the first time, i was pleasantly surprised how good this product is.
Cant wait to try the ultra i have on some small ceilings i have coming up.
I,m not going to be chasing multi any time soon.

These selco, b&q, wickes ain’t no good. Got to be using a decent merchants. We have not had any probs getting any this last month, had 120
Delivered today, had to give a week notice tho.
To be fair we had 400 15mm, pallet of m.r, 2 pallets of dab so perhaps it’s due to the order size. I definitely think the merchants look after you

Theres a hell of a lot more struggling than getting gear though

I've bought 5 bags of makegood stuff to complete a job. I've given up on chasing about after multi finish. Worst case I'll sand the living daylights out of it if I can't skim smooth

B&Q have notice to say they are not stocking mulii finish. Wickes branches showing 100s of bags all over the country. You need to login to view I think
