Make good finish

Mate off mine been using it last couple of days he runs quite a few lads,
Bad news it's meant to be dog s**t
None of them can get on with it
Facebook seems have a brave few lads happy with it.... Time will tell I suppose.

This gear has been getting some very bad reviews on the plastering Facebook pages.
In some of the pictures and videos it looks just like the batch of Knauf finish I had that they accepted was faulty. Areas that are sopping wet right next to bits that have flash set.
The company selling have also said that it should only be trowelled with a flexi from start to finish. Oh deary me.
You're also supposed to put it on at 3mm instead of 2mm, so that's extra gear to apply.
If, as I suspect, this is just like Knauf finish you'll also need to pre-fill the beads and tapers etc.
Sounds like a massive disappointment if I'm honest.

Be nice to have straight walls before I get to skimming! Dogs arsehole

Knauff is shite. Ok if you're going over mortar but anything remotely needing filled needs bonded out or something first.

I spoke to MG about their comments on the Flexi and advised they were wrong. Since then, they have adjusted their comments on that

As with everything new, it’s a learning curve and negative comments will be seen far more than positive

There has also been a number of positive ones on FB and as a whole. It’s been taken well. Yet, there are still some bad

Ryan don't for a second think that I wanted to be negative about this product, like just about every other spread I'd love to see a true competitor to BG products. I'm afraid this won't be it.
Why didn't MG come up with a product with all the good points of Board or Multifinish, but without the drawbacks? A real opportunity missed if you ask me.
Whether you like it or not this appears to be just like Knauf finish and most, not all, guys hated that.
You'd think making plaster was rocket science.

Don’t worry mate. I didnt think you were.

Time will tell on this, and I think in all honesty it’s too early to judge it, especially when some guys are slating it after using 3-4 bags - I have even come across some saying it’s bad when they haven’t used it but claim they have.

I’m confident MG will work with everyone and make sure it’s right - I do know guys using the mention application methods and they are having success

It's a fair point, it's a completely different product and they're all almost certainly trying to use the exact same method they do with multi. This is where a YouTube video of the process from start to finish with a proper couple of minute look at the final finish close up with decent lighting would be useful. I'm not sure how companies expect us to use a brand new product with absolutely no indication of how to use it other than a few short instructions. Need to see it in use

For example it says use plenty of water for the final trowel, does that mean keep the trowel nice and wet, flick abit of water on the wall, spray the whole wall down?

My biggest concern for MG would be what I'll call the (Unfinish effect). Don't get the product spot on first time and you're f**k*d. Now is not the right time to "work with everyone", that should have been working with the right people. Those that actually know the difference between good and bad gear and aren't yes men.
I wanted BG to be literally quaking in their boots at the thought of this gear sweeping across the industry.
That said they had previous with the board adhesive.

We still don't know what this gear can be used on.nothing on their web page.
Ain't buying anything more of them unless I see spec. Pva,use grit,,,,,damp undercoats.

Not your fault ryan

Let's be honest guys,bg bags are going to be readily available soon,if it was in say a local builders yard, travis or b@q etc I'd pick a few bags up and have a set with it and judge myself, dont really go much on others views as people still think speedskims are s**t which I cant get my head around as there best thing since sliced bread if used correctly

I have just read another negative review on Facebook, but after digging a little deeper I question why a detailed review had been done.

The latest review is based on the usage of 1 bag! Yes, 1 bag! I know many of you are extremely good at what you do, but how can you honestly learn about a product and adapt to it after using a bag? How do you learn the timings and characteristics of the product with such little use?

This is part of the problem with reviews on Facebook in my opinion, you only get a fraction of the information required

I used one bag of multi and relised I was s**t

They just posted this on there instagram page. sounds like the knauf mpf, nice n silky to spread, went for miles but used to peel if had it on abit tight when troweling up. Same colour too

Looks decent tbf. I'll be giving it a go, nothing to lose if I skim a room in my own house with it. Multis been inconsistent for years.
Still need to know what backgrounds it's ok on though and if you prep the walls the same way

Theres also a video on their of someone whos skimmed a gym with it, looks good, no streaky lines like with multi
