Plaster over old painted plaster board

Good evening. I’ve come up against a first, I’m plastering an office that has previously been plaster boarded and painted, the joints of the boards were covered in 6” timber cladding to give it an old traditional look. . We have removed the timbers, I plan to screw all the boards to make sure they are well fixed and then scrim and plaster. I have never (believe it or not) come up against old painted plasterboard. As the paint is solid I plan to just unibond pva over it prior to plastering as usual, i can’t see a problem but suddenly worried myself that bluegrit could be a better option, do we think pva will be ok? I appreciate your opinions, thanks
