Lots of plasterers with anger issues , you see some here ready to vent at every opportunity, possibly drink problems or home problems but there’s nothing worth getting angry about on a forum , abusing and threatening people in a keyboard warrior attack , get angry with non payers , people who cost you money , people who steal from you or those around you . Not at different viewpoints, there are more important things to focus on , don’t worry if someone says they do a house a day , earn a £m pounds , have miles of work , have lots of houses etc , they can live in that bubble , let them have it , there’s not many multi millionaire plasterers and those with money have earned it by work or brains or managed risk ,

Very hard to be a perfectionist as a plasterer as you are dealing with an unstable product....

but slight attention to detail will take you to the top 5% of plasterers....

I have f**k*d up massively on jobs in the past... taken what I learnt came back fixed it and learnt for next time...
True that! Have royally f**k up a good few jobs, and no doubt will do at some point in the future! :X3: can only hold your hands up take it on the chin and learn from your mistakes, puff out ya chest an try ya best!

What amazes me is how many plasterers think they are superb at plastering yet there are are sooooooo many crap plasterers about....

Best thing anybody can do is admit they are not perfect and those people will tend to be a lot better than those that think they are....
Spot on mate.same round my way, every plasterer down here thinks there s**t hot but everyone else is shite lol.self praise is no praise. Only as good as your last job, and only as good as your worst spread on your firm.plus it’s wet trade so no such thing as perfect in this trade

How can you possibly float to a decent standard without an 8ft rule?
Can’t remember last time I did Andy , inside last year to best of my recollection floated two walls with dricoat and a few complete rooms with hardwall

Generally put up vertical screens either end off wall and use these to fill in the middle.
But after floated small area 1.5m by 1m free hand earlier in the day, thought I'll up the anty a little.... took on 4m but 2.4 not massive but all over the show in and out
with bear brick, tile adhesive, gloss paint etc.

Big mistake got in a right state without a reference point/ screed to work off, was chasing high spots, hollows put on taking off just couldn't get me head round it!

Hats off to the people that can pull it off, but unless got a bead or a screed to work off just get lost within the wall?!

Lesson learnt stick to what you know!

Apologies for the essay!
Skirting straight angles clean wibbly wobbly in between

Ive got some walls in my house that I'm hard walling this week. Freehanded before in the past using a straight edge and level, but will set up some dots and rule off them as it'll be quicker.

Dots make the screeds straight all the idiots saying screeds cant guarantee their screeds are right withought dots

Get some photos up :D

Will do boss. Working on the upstairs at mo. Ive put insulated PB on the externals and took dividing wall down between bathroom and back bedroom to make the bathroom a bit bigger Thats the only stud wall, rest are clinker block walls apart from brick party walls. Had to take the block work down above the doors as it was loose, so studded that out with 2x2 and put 9mm board on as clinker not very thick. Bonded 3 layers of PB in-between though to make it more sound proof. Embedding render mesh in hardwall.

Will definitely need them when I do stair wall. Most the walls are no bigger than 3m so was going to set some dots up and do 3 vertical screeds and go from there.
