Just wondering if anyone has experience working for an asbestos removal company...how do they deal with lathe and plaster ceilings covered with asbestos artex...especially if they show signs of cracking etc...do they seal off the room and remove the whole ceiling?

Only asking as a customer of mine had an Asbestos removal company in to remove the Artex they sealed off the rooms but then hacked off all the plaster from the walls and took down the ceilings....the customer wasn't happy as they said despite sealing off there was dust everywhere!!!

As plasterers we either cover up or over board...but even over boarding we have to knock holes in ceiling so small exposure.

I charge £500 , send me the address
500 :risas:

For standard Artex ceilings any company professing it contains hazardous levels of asbestos are just charlatans!

We very rarely knock holes in, bit of guess work for the 1st screw then mark 400mm/450mm/600mm to find the 2nd to find what joist centres are then just repeat....

I do work for an asbestos removal outfit.
Lath /plaster lids...they sheet up,seal up doors etc and drop the full lid..just leave the lath.
I come in board it and plaster it...
All the sheeting protection is left down for me (y)
They have two guys all the protection stuff signage , H&S etc.
Big fans in the room blowing all the dust out the window......big coin in the asbestos removal game..

So all the waste has to be disposed of as licensed waste?

They take it down. Dust everywhere. Not sealed off very well. Think it's low risk but such a mess. Dust can go up through floor boards to above room. Has to be a better way but not that I've seen. I expected dust free room but far from it. The carpet was still down and looked like no sheets were used to cover it. That must of had asbestos in.

If they're blowing all the dust out of the windows that can't possibly be the correct method. The dust should be contained and dealt with, not moved somewhere else.
