Been using this for 12months now nice trowel but blade taking some breaking in anyone else the same debating to go back on the Mt 13x5 extralite or do I stick with the nela hatevtrowel traumas does me but in

Same, think I'll go back to Mt xtralite tbh. Like the nela but takes so long to wear it in, dunno if I can be f**k*d. Breaking another one in

Sometimes tigers and dries funny , i tend to 1st coat ( bag an half ) flatten straight away either blue speedskim , spat or trowel , then mix up again fresh stuff and soon as it’s on clean kit flatten straight away with Marshall or plastic ( Refina ) then another flat then s*p*r*lex , some sets have gone well but others not happy with , not sure if I should give the 1st coat 10 mins after I’ve flattened it then when I’ve got 2nd coat on leave 10 mins before I flatten , been using all these new trowels since they came out but we get issues sometimes with them

When u have your 2nd coat on are u using Marshall town all the way through ? And how many wet trowels ? After each trowel are u leaving for 10 mins ?

After ive laid in I go over with speedskim then leave 10mins then after that use y trowel at least 3 times to get it really flat then after like I say just a quick wipe over with the nela sf

I’ve tweaked it so many times Myself! Bottom line is crack open the flex trowel 2 hours after mixing up you should be ok ! I know lads will tell you different.
That's right that's when I use it about then like you day got to fcuk about with your timings really

I think I said before I’ve gone back to using my old mt trowels. My 13 inch extralite they were all clean oiled and tucked away in my garage. It’s so sharp and just feels so nice and accurate in your hand . I do use my Nela. For last flick over . Just got to remember to clean and dry the mts before going home. Cheers.

@Olican gave me a 13" extralite when I KO'd my trowel, now it's breaking in it's turning into beut I'm sure it's straighter down the length than my old one was and is starting to leave a lovely finish. I'm eternally grateful and don't touch any other trowel, tried and failed to flex my way to perfection and it was more headache than it was worth

I think the nela premium is an awesome trowel, it's on the render bench right now but I have skimmed with it. My mt carbon extralites are so sharp nothing else compares. I do like a s*p*r*lex for last pass but very rare now

They come and they go..but if you were only allowed one trowel it would have to be an mt

I’ve used the s*p*r*lex on odd occasion to bring the plaster back to life say after first coat when it’s pullrd in quick
Even a combination of both mt s*p*r*lex at the end helpS

My Nela Stainless Steel Premium is a strange trowel I've had it for over half a year bent it into a decent permashape worn it in real nice from rendering and a diamond block but it just does not compare to a marshaltown or ox stainless steel, it's too rigid for skim past laying on.

The original Nela's were always very stiff...
