Tyrolean looks bumpy??

I have now offered to buy different bulbs and go around once dark and try and see if we can find one that doesn't make it look as bad. Failing that I will smash them off lol

In the nicest possible way you need to man up mate. You've posted pictures on a plastering forum, and believe you me, if your work was rough .. you would get told straight on here.. I've seen it a few times.

The people commenting here are very good spreads from what I can gather.. and they are saying it looks good.

It's a bit late as you've entertained the guys requests but be honest with him.. tell him you've been happy with the work but the criticism has made you doubt yourself and your automatic reaction is to make the situation better by submitting to the customer.. but actually you've gotten second opinions from other plasterers and they all say it looks good.. so you will be standing by your work and if he has a problem he can take it to court.

You will not hear from him again. he's chancing. Believe me

I'm warming to you!!!

Hi lads. Iam prepared for the abuse. Yes it looks terrible with lights on and clearly the render underneath is not flat. There was 3 plasterers and a labourer on the gable and was derby but obviously still not good enough for them up and down lights. Customer has scaffold down and not happy and saying he can't live with that. You think he right in wanting it hacked off and redone or refund or???? Was a £7000 job and £4500 was materials and labour for my lads. It's perfect until lights on it or certain angle of sun. He not working with me regarding change the lights. Let the abuse begin.

Where does it go from here if you do it again and still looks the same? You can’t keep re doing it, we work in daylight not night time with false light. Gutted for you pal

Is that the same house and the same wall? I see what he means it looks terrible with the lights on, does it look the same if you look at it properly in normal light? I can’t see why it would look so different, I know these up and down lighters are really harsh but Christ that does look terrible with them on. Sorry about the reply but it’s the first time I have seen it with the lights on

Yes same house and same wall. Looks perfect during normal light. The lights he has fitted are fairly big up and down but yes I agree doesn't look great at night.

Tell him to take the f**k**g lights off the wall problem solved. What a waste of money wanting it to be redone. Job looks good in normal light. That light is harsh, did you know the light was going to be fitted? That might be my argument if you didnt. If I know a light Is shinning right down the wall I'll make sure the damn thing is near perfect. And it might still never be with that light.

Either way customer seems like a dick to expect that. Feel bad for you. Perfectly acceptable job Imo.

Thanks mate. I take great pride in my work and so do my lads so this hurts. No we didn't know lights were being fitted everywhere until finished. And not sure why his attitude is well changing lights is out the question.

I going to see him tomorrow. Will take loads of pictures now scaffold down. I thinking what if I spray heavier with an old school tyrolean box? As I used hopper gun and compressor so is very fine which he also requested.

Hi @mjacksonplastering

You need to take an invoice round and hand it to the guy personally (also email one) giving him 24 hours to pay.

If he refuses to pay ask him to email with what reasons he is withholding payment. If his reason is only sunlight and artificial light then you have him by the balls.

You cannot judge Render under artificial light or glancing sunlight. You just can’t. There’s a few articles on the web that would be handy in court if you needed.

If he doesn’t pay within the timeframe you’ve allowed, issue a letter before action and allow another 14 days or so.

Then go to MCOL at gov and start the process of taking him to the small claims court.

You cannot allow customers to treat you like this. You should have had a contract (hopefully you did) to Render his house in whatever finish agreed. You’ve done it, so he should now pay.

He has paid in full on completion about 2 weeks ago.

I wouldn’t start touching the work again now. To me that would be accepting there’s a problem.

Print a few articles from the web on glancing light, hand them to him.

For future reference get something in your T&Cs about artificial lighting and glancing sunlight.

Yes good idea regarding the contracts in future on this light issues. I will have look tomorrow now scaffold gone and get new photos for opinions.

Thanks lads.

I fell for you mate, I think you need to start looking into your rights, light can be a barstard in our game and it’s not fair, I know decades ago if a building was having lights on walls etc the builders used to put “droppers” in which we’re temporary lights rigged up where the finished article was going so the plasterer had a chance of getting things right when the lights were on but you still had to get it looking right when they were off. Me personally I think your customer has been unfair with the lights he has put up and I wish you the best of luck

Well lads just been to job as was unwell. Customer is a dodgy bugger and said if he didn't know me he would want his money back. I said if regular customer I would say f**k off see you in court. He said I don't do courts lol. So it's ended with him wanting answers to see what can be done? He also said cherry picker as doesn't want scaffold back up lol. He said he timed it when sun was on it and 11 minutes it looked s**t and when lights on at night.

What you lads think of photos

I see nothing wrong with it

Your allowed 30 mins, for him to say he didn’t have the money for Parex to is bull. I wouldn’t mind being a pound behind him judging that house. I bet he didn’t try and talk the kitchen company down from neff to hotpoint. Annoying some folk.

Theres nothing wrong with that looking at the pictures.
He's just chancing his arm, any independent surveyor would agree like wise.
Just threaten him with legal proceedings and cut to the chase with it, you've been more than ameanable with it.

He was bragging about how much money he has put into house half a million and saying even if he did get a refund off me he still left with a s**t job. Best of it is he screwed me on price. Done full house and double garage £7000 labour and materials.

If anyone tried haggling with one of my estimates on a domestic job I'd be off to be honest, there not buying a second hand car.
everything's is costed isn't it,so utimately they are asking you to provide free labour or free materials.

Here is the job. Just been around to see him. He said it's one of those things but happy if I want to go spray bits at 10pm when lights are on lol.
Looks great job his shout at 10 o’clock he might as well of said I was on easy jet flight just landing and the pilot wasn’t happy tell him to get another spread over to look bet you they can’t fault it!

Looks tidy mate as said before.. i can feel this is stressing you out, id be same few years ago.

Like i said before, everyone here had taken your side. You've entertained this customer far too long, the longer this goes on the more hope you're giving him for a freebie.

Just block his number. He won't chase
You. He is chancing
