Yeah i f$%cked up the first bit i tried filler on and has taken ages to make it passable. Luckily i just did a small spot. Have done a stretch now with devil filler and i made a much smaller V into the crack. Looks a hell of a lot better. Can still see its there if you look but its not glaringly...
The boarding?
If so that was me, ive boarded maybe 10 houses with no problems before. That said im far from a professional and if leaving a small gap between boards is a good idea then ive learnt something! Previous houses ive had the odd crack but never anything like this so this is new...
So actually the bit i filled and painted last night looks good... however a hairline crack has formed again :-( photos below of what im dealing with. Original crack is quite defined vs the more hairline appearance of the reformed crack.
Only thing i can think of is i do have a flue going up...
Had a 6m x 6m room plastered last week and upon drying it has a crack down the middle (whole room length). Odd as boards were tight, screwed in well and had noggins. Have been told its just "one of those things" maybe due to weather etc... anyway the plaster has offered (at a cost) to pop back...
Quick update... slapped 2 coats of paint on it (starting with mist coat). Once dry the paint along the cracks ended up raised.. sanded with 240, painted again and its all good :-)
Thanks, there is also a hole above where the flue goes into the loft to let hot air escape to try and keep the temperature inside down a bit. Appreciate its a bit energy inefficient but this is a beast of a fire!
