recently i do 1/3 SBR and PVA mix prevent plaster to go off so fast gives u more time to work on it SBR bit more expensive but worth it in my opinion (1 portion sbr to 3 pva)

i would screw piece a plasterboard like on the picture so the edge of that plasterboard gives u straight line then u need to bonding the hole behind (ceiling), let it go off, unscrew plasterboard and take it off. stick the bead to the edge
