I have to skim a kitchen ceiling,the whole house has been freshly painted showing up ridges and trowel marks but the kitchen is really bad.would there be any issues now regarding grease on the ceiling from cooking since its had a fresh coat of paint or would it need to be cleaned anyways?

Hi all,i replastered a retaining wall two years ago,the whole wall is solid apart from two squares which are boast.i did everything by the book,scud,scratch and topcoat.any suggestions to what might be going on?thanks.
