    Right this seems like a solid way of doing it, once i have it flush with the wall and plum allow it to set and then start the skim job

    thanks for the post beddy. When you say knock a couple of inches either side all the way down, is that to create a groove for the plaster bead and hardwall to sit in so that it becomes flush with the rest of the wall?
