I have just applied moisture board to my bathroom using wall adhesive. All of the boards are all flat and straight and I was wondering if I would be able to tile straight onto the boards or do they need skimming first?
Any help would be great.
Thanks.
Any help would be great....
My dad has had his bathroom recently done and some new plumbing has been put in. He doesn't want the wall re-boarding and I was looking at the best method of filling in the chases where the new pipes are.
Is it possible to fill in these chases with hardwall? I am...
Will it need a couple of coates to fill it out as in the past when I used hard wall it started to fall out due to the weight of it.
Also should this be good to wall paper over it will it need a light bit of finishing plaster over the top to smooth it out?
And thanks for the help!
I have recently had my house re-wired and I am now looking to start filling the chases. Some of the walls are free from wall paper and others have wall paper each side of the chase.
I have previously used hard wall but found that this is quite difficult to get flat enough to paper over.
Some of...
The grey stuff seems to be a bit fluffier and lighter with the particles spread further apart if that makes sense! Seems different from thistle bonding. Any ideas on how he has got it so level and flat or is that just him being a good plasterer?!?!
Can anyone tell me what type of plaster/bonding this is? A plasterer is doing my mates kitchen and where the walls were bare brick he has used a grey coloured plaster. In the 2nd picture there is a bit of normal bonding and the grey stuff next to it at the top right of the pic.
I'm a diy'er and...
Had a go with it, found I didn't really need the extra time but didn't do any harm having a few extra brews!
Seemed to be good stuff. Couldn't tell any difference other than it taking longer to set.
You win....
Anyone fancy a single room re-skim? It's got a bit of wooden dowelling around a fireplace and window but shouldn't be a problem for a fully qualified, I mean experienced spread (of course there is no such thing as a fully qualified spread).
I have a job. I am also a qualified spark. Yes I've done a course and I'm now not bad at skimming walls. Got a friend who wants a bedroom doing and thought I would posy in the DIY section for a bit of 'simple advice'. Didn't know how easilly offended people would get.
Thanks for the replies. I thought I could use float beads by securing them in place with clout nails, trim the edge off then fill with multi finish or bonding. Once this has dried I could stick normal 3mm beads on and crack on as normal.
I recently did a course to help out a relative renovate a house. I have done two bedrooms with a bit of patch repair and bonding in both. I've managed to get a good finish and as people have viewed my work against a full time plasterers work in another room in the house they have asked me to...
