    Some Help & Advice Please...

Hi. I've come to plastering later in life than most. Initially I thought about a college course like yourself but thought that I would be even older after three years. I then considered a GoldTrowel course but they were to far away from me for it to be viable. I tried ringing local plasterers to...

    Tilers

I looked at tiling when looking for a career change but eventually decided on plastering. I also thought about plumbing and electrical work but I felt that they were to boring to be honest. I think with plastering and even tiling you have some form of expression with what you do. A room can be...

which qualification would be best or does it not matter?

Hi Lynn. Ive got a qualification in plastering but it's not an NVQ. Where I to continue plastering over the next twelve months would you then be able assess me on domestic jobs and award me an NVQ should I meet the criteria? Or would I need to go to college? Thanks.

how to make sure the phone keeps ringing..

I've handed out a few hundred flyers at Sainsburys and got some decent leads from it. It only cost about £80 for 10 000.

    pinkgrip dryfix adhesive

Thanks. I know that now and I agree. It seemed like a quick fix but actually took longer in the end than drywall adhesive.

coursers & chancers prove me wrong

I did a course because there were no apprenticeships available for someone of my age. I did phone some local plasterers and asked if I enrolled at college would they give me some work experience but none would. A course seemed the only way forward. I've had steady work since but know there's a...

    pinkgrip dryfix adhesive

I've used it once. I got it from Atkinsons. It doesn't do five boards more like two boards and you have to watch it. I left mine for half an hour and when I went back the foam had pushed them out and they were no longer flat. Hope this helps.

    Hello

Thanks for the information. I went back to the job today to see for myself and to be honest it was not so bad. It was just three cracks about a half metre each in length. I covered them with polyfilla and will go back on Monday evening to sand them down. It was not old board and it was not by a...
