My plasterer is scrim taping everything :-)

What an interesting and defensive bunch you are. Thanks for your comments Danny and thank you Mr Twicher. What a disturbing message. You have a vivid imagination. Might I suggest you investigate staying at this hotel Broadmoor Hospital - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My plasterer is scrim taping everything :-)

I'm having a kitchen plastered. Artex ceiling, and fairly dodgy thermalite walls with old browning plaster. The walls are having a coat of bonding and multi finish. This plasterer has put tape all around the perimiter of the ceilings where they meet the walls. He has told me that this is to...

    Polish plasterers

Money was never the driver for us - that was your assumption. The previous thread relating to cracks in new plaster was nothing to do with this thread - another job in another part of the country. I hardly think that employing a "decent" plasterer could ensure a crack free finish. Like Danny...

    Polish plasterers

I hope I haven't hit a nerve there. I don't necessarily put cheap nasty and foreign together. Of the projects that we've done most have tradesmen have been English and some foreign - Italians, one German (he was the worst), and a Pole. We've had some pretty dodgy Brits amongst them and some...

    Polish plasterers

Common gov but ok? I just thought if it was a good thing to do then why don't the manufacturers do it. I wonder now about my cracking plaster that I put on a previous thread - they were a polish mob so I wonder if that has something to do with it i.e can cement cause bonding to crack.

    Polish plasterers

Oh and I forgot something else which spooked me. Mr Polish plasterer also told me that he adds cement to his bonding to make it go off quicker. There has to be a downside with doing that because even if it does make the undercoat go off quicker surely British Gypsum would do it themselves so...

    Polish plasterers

Hello - I've met a plasterer from Poland who reckons that he does great work. Thing is he always sands the walls after he's plastered them. Now I would have thought that with a proper plasterer doing the job you should be able to decorate straight on top. Does it really matter though if...

    Cracking plaster

Thank you - on reflection it was obvious wasn't it?! I now have 15 places to buy fibres.

    Cracking plaster

I tried all the usual suspects Jewson, Wickes etc but no one's heard of fibres to go in plaster. Anyone know where I can buy them?

    Cracking plaster

Thanks very much - I did attach a link but for some reason it doesn't look like one. Please click below. I met a plasterer who swears by this. By the way where can I buy fibres to put in the mix? Fibrego Oy

    Cracking plaster

Thank you both very much. I reckon it's got more to do with the existing browning plaster because when the garage was plastered (it's not been plastered previously) not a crack in sight, but when walls that had been previously plastered were patched up that's when I had problems. It seems a...

    Cracking plaster

Hi all. My 1985 house is constructed of thermalite block with browning and multifinish. Problem is whenever I've had plasterers re-do walls in my house hairline cracks have always appeared after some weeks/months. The plasterers have knocked off any loose plaster and re-plastered in bonding...
