i find it strange that they recommend priming with pva before plastering when it is not water resistant...i use the external pva when faced with the greens. I have also primed fire resistant and sound proof board with pva- is this necessary?

have had this problem before, it was a crap loamy, silty sand-are you using a sand you havn't used before?

in that case i would go for the dab then and plenty of! good luck
