    Ridiculous Pricing (Domestic Refurb)

He is getting the quote in wiriting, ill get a copy and put it up. I couldn't stop laughing when he told me either. I asked 3 times if it was 130 a day, as surely he must have meant that. He said no, the price for the lounge alone 3 walls, 1 all ready done would be over £1,000

    Labourers !

I'm lucky if a labourer can even mix multi correctly, usually just there to mix gear and feed my hawk on big hits. I dont usually use one, but on big jobs it can make stuff a lot easier. Its usually better to have another spread with you on big hits, as if you need one on smaller jobs, your just...

    Ridiculous Pricing (Domestic Refurb)

Now I know times are tough and some people have been saying they are working for £5 a sqm in some cases etc etc. Im starting a job on a refurb next week and its a building site at the moment, a plasterer has walked in and gave the customer a quote, saying he will do the job for £130 a sqm...

Float + Set Celcons S+C or hardwall?

Yea, cost wise that would be a lot cheaper, should I just one coat them with say 6:1 mix?

Float + Set Celcons S+C or hardwall?

So ive never really known "whats best" for celcon blocks, half the time I use hardwall and half the time I use S+C just depends what materials are on site really. Now I have an extension to-do and have about 200sqm of new celcon blocks to float+set. If I S+C it I would always 2 coat, but the...

    Curved or flat?

It doesn't matter what you use to put it on and get it flat, as long as you leave the job with a flat wall and a happy customer. If you can acheive that finish with the back of a brick trowel that's been in your van for 5 years getting nice and rusty, then good on you.

    painted artex / re activating

I had this blistering effect on a 30sqm ceiling I did once, never again. I always Overboard now and this solves all of lifes problems.

Are coloured renders all they crack up to be?

My Dad's just got a new bungalow and wants in rendered, hes having some fairly major work done and the builder kept bashing on about how K-Rend is the best thing since sliced bread etc etc. Now I was going to render the bungalow for him, its just standard bricks, was going to-do some rough...

    One of those jobs...

Its about 3-4mm thick and the whole walls are swaying with touching it. I spoken to a mate who did a job in the same road and ended up having to rebuild a whole wall, safely say im walking away!!

can you give me a price mate

Luckily I can pick/choose work with the way things are at the moment, so give them the old favourite "Dunno mate, my balls are hairy not made of crystal", its usually builders asking for quotes like this, so usually then get a laugh and site visit.

    One of those jobs...

I can tell all the render has blown under the paper as I touch it and it flexes up to an inch. The walls are so bad behind, hes going to call the council in as its a massive job and I cant do a weeks work for a mate of a mate. I think hes still in the process of buying it off them so given a...

    One of those jobs...

The walls underneath the lime are so bad that I think they would need re-rendering just in order to stop them falling down. I would love to board over it, but really think the walls might suffer. Also the stairwell is the narrowest ive ever seen, so dont want to loose to much space.

    One of those jobs...

Hi Lads, Went to look at a job last night, friend of a friend (always the case with these jobs), anyway... I get there and hes asking me to re-plaster the stairwell, which would be a bitch on its own as its full height from ground floor, almost 4m. Thats not really a problem, what is a problem...
