Had the same thing happen today 1930s house all came off to scratch coat and it is mega dusty and pours have it 2 coats of pva today and will give it another going over tomorrow before skimming give the 1st coat a bit more of a thicker mix i find this helps a bit . Got some of that bond it stuff...

Been working at this place off an on for a few weeks now every morning without fail I get a mc donalds breakfast @ 9 30 coffee on tap and a fridge full of snacks to help my self with. Plus the guys wife and all her sisters who come around helping them paint are stunning! Win win win :)
