Hi All
I have read some of the posts re plastering course, im a time served decorator and often get held up waiting for plasterer to turn up, I can hand tape etc but looking to do a 4 day course to plaster skim over artex , dodgy walls etc , not whole houses etc just skimming.
im old school and think takes years to learn trade but wondering if its worth while taking week course to learn basic skimming
any advice or recomendations would be great

artex do have a material to flattern a patterned area, which is applied with a spat and you can sand down next day, if you cannot use a hawk and trowel. use the 2 grand you save for a holiday!

I did a 6 week course back in january/feb skimmed 5 artex ceilings the last 2 days and they look top notch......4 days wont be enough, 6 weeks wasnt enough, lucky for me a chap on here gave me some help and some time and taught me a few bits

Day 1.....introduction to plastering, materials, backings etc blah, blah tools blah
Earnings blah
Day 2....short film about "how to" and a demo on some boards, with a load of talking, the chance to purchase a plasterers toolkit.
Day3....The chance to actually try it, scrim, mix, skim, trowel, scrape etc
Day 4....Clean up all the muck you've dropped, exchange numbers with new found friends, pay

Probably not like that really, but in my head........
Could you teach someone to be a decorator in 4 days??
