Achieving a solid colour when dry

when you give it a final wipe try spinning your trowel over (hold it upside down).
and cross it with the back edge of the trowel blade it will have less wear on that side, be straighter and will leave a much better looking finish when completely dry.
did you do any vids scottie 2 hottie ??

Very little water and a slippery second coat (wet) also lay your second coat in flat leaving little trowel lines so you dont end up dragging fat about

I used to get a amazing uniform finish with a refina plastic trowel but have achieved just as good with marshalltown.

Its how you hit it, less water and how many trowels you give it that leaves you a uniform finish.

But on a lot of backgrounds you will never get perfect dryed finish.

non suitable for a family program marra .

joking aside im actually painfully shy so that whole youtube type of shameless self promotion thing would fill me with dread if im honest. :(
dont worry, just get vince to do it and you tell him what to do...........(y). you can help him get rid of his glut marks....................:coffe:

Multi finish and board finish should dry out blank. But once the painters on our site have done all the towelling in the world doesn't matter . They just bollock it on any old way making a decent finish look wank because of the way they paint it .

f**k me scottie you make me feel bad posting that...mine dont look like that...is that uniform finish down to just a final trowel with a plastic, anything else?

it'll all come with experience bud but that only comes with time.
the sanz plastic isn't a magic wand and it looks a bit s**t but will make a bit of difference to the final dried appearance.
I just try and put as little water on it as I can.

Hate them because they look s**t on websites. Some clients see these marks and think your a hallion and don't want ya anywhere near their house :(

I'm devastated. Got a bend in my trowel. Need a new one but putting off saying goodbye :crying:. I'm now doing reveals and left corners with my trowel upside down. Bumped into one from the forum last week and he told me there's nothing I can do about it. Boo.

Went back to a job had to skim a celing so I thought I would have a look at the dining room I did last week 3 walls looked ok but 1 wall had water marks all over it i was like wtf can't get my head round its got to be something but what

There's a difference between water marks and stripes in a finished wall. Once painted, stripes you won't see, water marks will stand out when painted over. IMO anyway!
