Lime plaster

Hi everyone
I am normally in the general plastering section but I could do with some advise.

I have been asked to do a restoration using anglia lime products on savolit plus fibre boards with fibre chalk ready mix.

Now I have never done any lime plastering and I have told the customer this and they seem quite happy.

I have told them that I need to research it before I can consider the project.

I have Been told that I should allow more time to do a room as it takes longer than gypsum products.

Have also been told to charge more as it is a specialist field.

As I said in the start I have never used lime plaster

So all and any useful tips advise would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Mark

That limelite renovating is a b*****d to use did 6 refurbs with it and its horrible refused to do it on price so did on day rate and just took time with it

If you have not used it before and do not know anyone local who has ring the supplier and i am sure the will be more than willing to help with how too's etc.
Personally in your position i would go for a day rate.
If it is not pre mixed gear it will take an age to get coarse stuff in a belle mixer to anywhere near creamy, a forced action mixer is the mutt's for it but they are not cheap at all and certainly not worth buying for a potential 1 off job so, at least 2 belle mixers to give you enough gear to keep busy and some one mixing for you.
You have to let each coat set fully before progressing to the next (it is ready for next coat when your thumb nail will not mark the surface when pressed in hard) so, depending on temps this could take days and days even weeks!. If it is hot you will need to keep misting it with water to slow it down or it will crack and die.

There is loads and loads more but, unfortunately my fingers are starting to hurt.

GOOD LUCK (y)

Really ? I've found it a pleasure ?! It's lightweight and easy on the arms, mixes evenly and was generally more pleasant than hardwall or bonding in my opinion.

Did you try and put it on more than 10mm thick at a time perhaps ?

No put a coat on let it go then put another coat on to try get it sumat like..horrible..ye it was a dark green now I remember wasn't grey..

It cums in a green and white bag..think it was a mucky grey was horrible to rule off just drags and slumps
Did you two coat when you was using limelight and did you use the proper slurry for it? I was in a gang that was using it about 15 years back they tried putting it on in one and had the same trouble, slurried up let it dry, scratch coat then a topper and it was sound

Probably y thought it was shite then lol..just didn't like the way it ruled off

Mix the lime up the day before if it's not too hot, cover and keep air tight and knock it up next day, stuff will be far easier to use.
