What? By the sounds of it most of the people on here aren't qualified, they're "time served" and probably learnt off somebody who wasn't qualified either.

Just because you've been doing something a long time, doesn't mean you're doing it right just ask your wife, she knows ;)

You have to be qualified and registered to work with gas or electric... Look it up mate.
To mess with gas yes but to be a plumber no, also you don't need to be qualified to do electrics have proper look oh and look what time served means whilst your looking :)

Look Builders, Electricians and Plumbers do the important part. Plasterers, Painters and Tilers just tidy up and make thing look a bit better.

Plastering, Painting and Tiling is a luxury whereas Plumbing and Electrics are essential and that's why those trades are more well regarded. If a pipe bursts you've got no choice but to get the work done or risk further damage.

Some of you are deluded, there's nothing wrong with having pride in what you do but let's not kid ourselves.

You are all free to charge what you want and if there's people out there willing to pay your asking price then good for you! like I said, I don't really care what you all earn.

Gamo...I do love you .......heres your award..

dont listen to them...stick to your guns(y)

You've been plastering for three years, and you are telling people on this forum ( a lot as has been said have been plastering longer than you've been alive)
I quote 'anyone charging more than £120 a day is extreme' and customers are 'mugs for paying more than that'.

Who's experience do you trust? Your 4 years or their lifetime??

Tell me this, sites near you will be paying £4 a metre for skimming (very easy/simple work) how much can good plasters do to a high standard in your opinion??

did you ever think about taking up sparkie or plumbing as your job/trade or you genuienly like plastering Gamo?
I think carpenters are jolly important too.

I fell into plastering because people around me were doing it and I had the opportunity to work with them. I like the job and I can't earn more doing anything else.

I did consider becoming a plumber because the job seems fairly easy but if you want to make the big bucks you've got to add gas and it'd take four years or so to be qualified. I'd advise youngsters to go into plumbing from school but it's a bit late in life for me now.

I did a bit of painting when I left school and actually preferred that to plastering but plastering pays better so I went with the plastering.

No interest in electrics at all or carpentry either.
