Hi guys
I have a room to re-skim..
The old plaster has just lifted off the old hard wall which is sound and well stuck all the old plaster has been removed.
Just wondering if there is anything else apart from pva, ing to help kill the suction.
Cheers lads

That old hardwall will suck like a prozzy on price work...

PVA is what I would use... I know some would just throw a tonne of water at it to try and kill the suction....

2 coats of pva and skim.
or 1 coat of pva then a tight coat of thistle bonding and skim,
or skim in thistle universal.

Looking forward to it like a hole in my head :muyenojado:
Looks like a will be getting the pump sprayer out n soaking it with pva n water

Sbr is waterproof. A watered down coat will control the suction. A neat coat will killed altogether. But can dry shiny and give poor adhesion.

The best out the lot is a watered down gyprime or knauf equivelent, pva always needs 2 coats on this background unless you can leave one coat to fully dry overnight.

Trouble is yes it's expensive and you normally have to order it in advance but it goes a long way. As Banjo said and Carlos those 2 options are cheaper and easier to get hold of.
