Hi, where using k-rend wet dash on this new build and have applied this k-rend sbr and base coat to block at the mo which is all fine. Yesterday we applied the dash receiver and then dashed with the k-rend rough cast! We turned up this morning and what we have dashed seems to have lots of very small like hair line cracks all over it. What is the cause of this please before we carry on! We mix base coat and dash receiver in big tubs with mixing drill on the scaf, and the rough cast gets mixed in the mixer for about half hour and applied to the receiver straight away when it comes out the mixer!!!

Never used it before just dashed with sand cement lime , some kind of suction problem ? Does it say to wet down etc ? Before applied

How thick are you putting on the dash receiver?
The base coat is already done and cured is it??
Never had a problem with it myself, great gear!

We painted the k-rend sbr stuff on mixed with water, then base coated it while still tacky, then a few days later we wet the base coated wall and let it dry a little then lapped on the receiver quite thick about 10-12mm thick. Then applied the rough cast after we lapped on about 20sqm of receiver. The receiver had a little crust on but still quite soft? Does it matter if it goes quit hard if we lap on a gable of about 30sqm?

Thanks for this! Will the rough cast have to come off that's cracked? You can only see it if you really look at it for a long time. It seems a big gamble of timing it right and getting the right thickness! Big risk!

depends if you can get away with it or not, your the only one who can make that call. The thick receiver coat must be moving with the weight of the roughcast.

I put the receiver on like skimming, nice & flat, and same thickness.

No risk at all!!

I thought we did in places! Maybe thick on beads. But hair line cracks all over so must of been to thick. If the rough cast starts tightening up in the bath would it be ok to run the mixing paddle through it for 5 then use

I use a forklift tub for receiver, and another for dashing gear, that's a lot of stuff, & when it seems like it's starting to tighten up in tub, 20 secs of the drill and away you go again.
2mm thick.
Can dash miles of it like this, can't speak highly enough of the product!

I love it. I was just gutted when the rough cast cracked next day. I'm praying the gables will be ok Tomoz! Need paying. Lol

Temp was 18. Cloudy with breaks of sun. Was in shade first thing when we did it but in direct sun later in the afternoon about 2 hours after we did it! That ok?

I did everything I got told on here today and we done a 30sqm gable drop by lunch and after an hour or 2 it started to show tiny little cracks in the rough cast! Somebody help me please!!!

Never seen k-rend rough cast before. Wet dash can hairline crack like that. The cracks don't go to deep. Think it's drying out to quickly.

Strange one wet dash is known for being absolutely bullet proof I've done a lot over the years and never had a problem, never used K-rend wet dash though so I'd be on the blower to them for an explanation.

The last time I used k-rend it was hpx over renderboard fully meshed and there was hairlines on that the day after, I don't rate the stuff at all.

Honestly peeps. I've wet dashed for years and also used k-rend along the way. I've always hated the stuff but nobody does it around hear so it's hard to refuse because of the inside work. I can do it but this wet dash is drys out funny. Everything by the book to. It's not blown and the hair line cracks are in the rough cast. If you stand 1m away from it ya can't see them and looks great.its just close up and really stair. Crazy! Can't see why it's my fault tho.

It's a doomed house mate ! Feck off as quick as you can:maraca:.I had jobs like this too and the relief when you done is :numberone:.If is not the suction or the thickness , the consistency or timing , is for sure thy customer heating his house from inside to help you out:). Anyway, I think you are the only one who can find out what's wrong.

This can happen to anything riddled with lime, they can also swell and 'fill' with moisture also, googling will prob throw up these things. I wouldn't worry too much
