Those vids are very misleading.there more to it I reckon
That's what I've been trying to find out.
I can get what people are saying about using the ritmos and k4's etc being that they're to messy for domestic. That's why I was hoping that someone on here has had experience with the airless machines and could recommend or not recommend them.

men in white put things right...i like to come on forum cus there is a lot of good plasterers on here..first thing you said is u been plastering 15 years next sentence you said I electrician and plumber by trade ...
So am I not allowed to be good at more than one thing??

For all I know your work might be rubbish too!!
For all I know your work might be rubbish too!!
im not going to sit on a forum and have an argument with you about it.
I know my works good and people keep coming to me on recommendations so I don't need to prove myself to you or anybody.
I've just come on here to ask a perfectly reasonable question to which I was looking for good answers and information and some of them have to be fair. But you have just come along and starting putting me down just because I do more than one trade.
I know there are people out there that say they can do everything (and I never actually said I can do everything) and they are rubbish. And I've also met plasterers that say they've been doing it for years and years and they're work is shocking!!

That video looks more like dry lining. I used an Ames dry lining machine leaving walls like you see in the video. Then I applied ready mix joint cement as a slurry all over the wall as flat as then sponge finish. Next day sand it all down and it was a perfect finish.

But dry lining never took off as plasterers could not take to it so board and skim came in. Plasterer's prefered skimming. I preferred dry lining.

So what you see is the slurry being sprayed onto what is a perfectly flat wall then a day or two later it being sanded down.

You may have some perfectly flat walls you could spray but others may need that bit thicker material. Thats where skimming comes in.

Ask yourself, does most of the walls you skim just need a mm of dry lining material to get flat and smooth. If so go ahead and buy the machine.

Thats the kind of answer and information I've been looking for!!
Just nice to know what someone who knows a bit about them machines and the materials.
Thanks

buy the machine and post some pictures of the work that would be great to c bud...I still think multi trade types r the problem in the trades your post is about the machine my advice would be if you got no experience of using the product forget buying the machine cus u seen it on youtube

I've said it before and I'll say it again airless is the bollox.

New board needs to be good. If it is the taping don't take long if not it takes longer.

The process does take 3 days so it's only suited for decent runs of work.

The sas video is a fair representation of the process and shows how easy it is to do and also to spray paint.

I think most people when the say domestic mean occupied houses. It works fine in any new build house. So does spraying gypsum but it's just to messy and complicated.

If anyone wants to join us doing airless for a day your more then welcome

f**k that get a machine and give it a go. You don't learn anything by doing nothing.

If it's not for him he can just sell the machine on.

Fair enough I c u use a lot ...I would come and have a day with ya... wasn't trying to take anything away from the video...

We are in Kent.

It's the future of site plastering and new build work. Not just plasterboard.

I've been floating a house out with Knauf universal plaster on to celcons and then taping with airless. Looks awsome

yes mate I'd love to see the finished product!!
Definitely well up for heading down to Kent to see it all in action.
I'm very interested in the whole thing and like you said, you don't get anywhere doing nothing. If it ain't for me I'd soon know.
I like your positive attitude!!! :)

On the plasterboard side of things we done it by hand with multi and board finish, we sprayed on thistle spray finish and knauf mp finish through a Ritmo powercoat and also sprayed knauf and besierre airless finishes.

We plaster to make money and the fact we now do airless almost all the time should indicate how good it is.

We tried all the options so think we have a better real life knowledge then a lot of the bathers on here.

I've got bored off arguing about it so don't really post to much anymore.

Yeah I've seen your videos on YouTube and thought that you're the man I need to talk to about the airless machines and products.
Glad I've spoken to you now mate. Made things a whole lot clearer.
I live just outside Harlow so I wouldn't mind making a couple of hours trip down to you when you've got it on the go.

Funny that I been plastering 15 years as well and thought one day this plastering is so easy I will watch how my electrician and plumber mates do there job and watched youtube videos of how to do...now I can tell all my customers don't bother phoning around for quotes I do everything...worst kind of people in the trade you are....tonight I thought I will go on the brick laying forum and by the end of tomorrow I will know how to lay bricks as well.
Here's one for multitrading, this is from the tree surgeon!

Ask me in a month nick. They have a product in the pipe line that the tape and spray process is done in a day.

You can in theory trowel to a finish however it's never gonna be as perfect as a sanded finish. Saying that it's better the 90% of the shite multi we see on site. I've forgotten to sand a few rooms before and it got past by the clerk of works
