Finished a nice Jub Nano job 2 weeks ago and yesterday I had the scaffold took down. This particular company has well oiled scaffolding clips and they have in places put their oily hands on the Nano and left oily hand marks on the render.

This being so called self cleaning you would think should not be a problem to clean but before the customer has a go at cleaning can anyone suggest what to clean with?

Before now I have only had hand wool wash detergent suggested which might well work but this is oil?

Any suggestions.

if i was in charge then your scaffolder would be dealing with it first thing in the morning!

He may well do yet Malc. These scaffolders was employees but the directors have always paid for any damage and may well do here. But I need to advise them the best I can.

warm water with mild detergent ,soft brush if the nano was completely set. or go to your Jub rep for a more expensive answer.;)

Yes, like Stergene, hand wool wash detergent and a soft brush like one of those you wash cars with.

But this is oil? If i does wash off 4m up where is it going to go? It is going to need well rinsing.

Hi guys, I did A nano over a year ago, I got a phone call from customer( a friend of mine) and she said how do you get a years worth of ground in mud off haha( ground workers abused it) so I went round with a stuff brush hot water and fairy, after half hour on same spot the mud was laughing at me no chance . So got intouch with jub and they said fairy hot water and brush if that doesn't work, paint it with nano paint but it was customers fault too much money

Coffee or tea is hard to get off, but oil..... I can imagine only! Seagulls s**t is as hard to clean as anything else! The only way I managed to deal with these three was to paint it over, but never had to deal with oil . Will be interesting to see the outcome .

Thanks for your suggestions so far. What gets me is when you see the lotus leaf effect video nothing should stick to Nano, it is supposed to be self cleaning.

Jub might have some explaining to do if does not come off. I sell it's self cleaning properties.

Give him a nudge and pick his brains. Im sure hes got something

Ever build make a wonder wipe comes in a sealed tub, it will remove it. There great for removing any oily mark , expanding foam marks etc.

Think they sell them in my merchants. I will give it a try. Thanks.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago one of the guys got bitumen on the topcoat when painting the plinth, he tried scrubbing it away but it just made the area around it fade. I stippled some of the topcoat over it with a small paintbrush (dabbed it on the wall not brushed ) it looks fine now you can't see the faded mark or the bitumen. Hope this helps!!

Well some good news. The customer has tried cleaning it with liquid soap and warm water. Most of it has come off. Apparently you can only see what is left if you knew it was there in the first place.

I will go round next week and have a look. When I have a minute I will try and get a photo up to show you how bad it was.

have you tried an engine degreaser like "Gunk" not sure if it will damage the render but you could add a bit of water and have ago on a test patch somewhere :)
