Got one coming tomorrow morning. Not used this one before, anyone able to give me a quick rundown of the machine, we are going to be putting silicon dash through it as well as the basecoat, 2 polish guys are running one on the same site but they don't talk a word of English so you can imagine trying to get info from them.

Thanks ryan

Hi Ryan,

It's not as easy as just plug and play mate. Where are you based? I would recommend going on a full training course on the machine before you attempt to use it

Ryan

Water in at the bottom of caddy, you need to see a yellow light flick on then off, if it stays yellow machine is in reverse, so flick the red switch over if need be,turn water pump to hand position and fully open wash out tap so you get a good flow of water then close tap off this bleeds air out of system, take blind cap off front of machine and press water button and set water to required amount if you don't know then your better off starting around 400, let water come out of the outlet on mixing zone replace blind cap and run machine just so you see water come out of bottom of R&S then stop machine and remove blind cap and top water back up, this primes the R&S, switch water pump and star wheel to auto position place a bag or bucket with hole cut out over hose connection at front of machine and run machine adjusting water til you get consistency correct, wet hose and set spray gun, and connect to front of machine, switch compressor to auto press green button and open tap on spray gun and off you go

i would look at using a D 4-2 rotor/stator or d6-3 slimline if you are pumping silicone renders. They can be more difficult to mix than normal renders

With all above being said I still wouldn't advise giving it a go just off the cuff. I would definitely advise against it

I'm assuming it's a used machine? Have you seen the machine running?

If you use the machine without knowing what you are doing you could potentially cost yourself more money. Blocking the hoses, burning out you R/S or even back filling the machine.

You also need to know how to clean the machine down properly.

If you want to give me a call tomorrow on 01242 236699 we can help you with a training session and make sure the 1st time you use the machine things run smoothly.

Ryan is right on this its easy to set up a machine but if you have never used one before or have had no training then its a certainty its gonna go tits up, you got Les Lord in Rotherham as the nearest person to you, its a small expense to get the right advice and back up

Thanks ever so much for the replies guys. I have used an mtec in 2000 but to be honest I wasn't paying the machine any attention as i was on the darby, it's really the machine. I'm aware plenty can go wrong. The g5 belongs to the company I'm working for at the moment. It's been getting serviced and no ryan I haven't seen it working yet. We get it at 9am tomorrow. How much does the training cost. The job is in Stonehaven which is a few miles south of Aberdeen, now your getting me worried guys. Theirs another squad on one as well but they don't speak a word of English. I will give yous a call tomorrow. Thanks ever so much. Ryan

We are based in Cheltenham and our training costs £150 + VAT for your company. We can also check the machine over for you and make sure everything is working correctly. I will have a word with one of our customers in your area and they may be able to swing over to see you and help you get going.

If you drop me an email with your contact details I will help you out where I can. Email is: ryan@pftcentral.co.uk

We have lots of customers in Scotland and Wales. If we advised them to go to a competitor it would be a very stupid business decision. Saying that our current customers know there are people closer, but we can provide the service they require and they are happy with it and continue to use us on a regular basis

Managed to delete the private message ryan I'm half asleep. My emails ryanplasterer@gmail.com mate. I will try an and arrange some training very soon. Will give John a call in the morning. Pitty there no for pft Aberdeen lol

Hi Ryan,

I have just sent the contact details for one of our customers to your email address. He is willing to help you out and give you a few days on-site training.

Hope that helps you out mate,

Ryan

Thanks ryan, which rota and stata do I need for basecoats, would have thought the machine would have came with the sufficient one. There is a spare one but it's the same type, Got John walker coming out at the end if next week to see us, could really do with getting the rest basecoated.

Hi Mate,

From your emails Im guessing you have the D,6-3 on there. It is still possible to use this but as you said it is fast. I would recommend using a D,4-3. If you give me a bell tomorrow I can get one up to you for the following morning.

Did you speak to Colin as well mate?

Yes mate it's the d-6 3 we have and I would say it could fill a swimming pool in an hour lol. We ain't allowed to move any hand rails and they are in double rows, the scaffold lifts are full of random rubbish boards and hopups, so space is tight mate, it's single hopups on the opposite side of the handrails so we have to be on the inside if you follow me. I will call you first thing ryan and order it mate. Thanks a lot again

It wasn't playing game today. Got John walker coming out tomorrow, just wasn't coming out of the nozzle for more than a second before cutting out. Airhole is clean even gave it a good poke with the file. Nightmare and a half. Any ideas fellas

Hi @scotsplasterer,

Sounds like you have an air problem - Run the machine without the air pipes on, if it works then it will show this is the cause. It will hopefully be something simple like a small blockage in the Air Line for the gun or the pipe itself. Jonny will be able to sort you out tomorrow though.

Did you get in touch with Colin and the boys in Falkirk?

Thanks for getting back to me. As soon as the air goes on the gear stops flowing and the nozzle spurts watery gear out then stops. We gathered it was a block. The sites filthy possibly some mud has gotten in. I have had no time to contact Colin as this site want us there everyday. We've had it going good though, just today we couldn't get going and the thought of picking the hawk and trowel again destroys me.

How do you mean pal when the air goes on the gear stops flowing ? After the machine is set up and switched the power to gun the gear should only come when the air is turned on and stop when you close it?

No worries mate, give me a call tomorrow morning if your struggling when you set the machine up. We will run through it with you and get you flying :RpS_thumbsup:.

We were getting gear from the bottom ok, then connected up the wet hoses. I got up on the gun and the render came to the tip then the machine cut out loads of times. To be honest half the tools and cleaning stuff isn't with the machine, so I'm doubting it's been looked after, had to bring the gauges home and scrub them clean my ocd kicked in. Will call you first thing mate. I know we cleaned it properly the day before, doesn't seem to be near as loud as the previous day eather or maybe that's because it's not in full swing.

May need a service. Little things we wouldn't notice can cause big problems. Water and compressor filters for example. Air getting sucked into the water.

Just had a service nearly 2 weeks ago, John walker was out this morning, we were not giving it enough water pressure we had it at 450 and he said 600 is better, stuffs going on a lot better now and got used to it pretty fast so not needing the green rota and stata that arrived today, be handy to have by though.

Got the machine under control for the time being, amazing how much you get on in 5 mins lol.

Yes he did mate, he showed us the lot briefly, how to check the rota and stata too. Made us a lot more confident with the g5, mentioned something about a nozzle extension also which we could really do with as the double handrails are a real pest, would let me work from over them instead of going in between them. Any idea of a price at a guess. Can't find one online

Wish I could agree mate, told the boss to take the machine away today I'm dead with it now, far too messy, ok on open panels but when it comes to blasting on 100m2 in a couple of hours then having to clean up for the rest of the day, **** that for a game of soldiers I'm back in the hawk and trowel. Take the g5 back where it came from.

Worth sticking with mate 100 percent need to cover up but the more you do the tidier you get also I find having a lever on the gun saves loads of mess.i thought about throwing the towel in with it loads when I started wouldn't dream of hawk n trowel now lol

Scott don't be a wimp. I think everyone me included was the same at the start. But once u get the knack u will never look back. Stick up a post to try and get a few shifts with someone experienced. In 6 months times Ul look back and laugh
