Magnetic plaster from British Gypsum has been the topic of conversations throughout the plastering industry for most of 2014, and I am expecting it to continue right through 2015 because it is a cracking product that really grabbed my imagination from day one

How come it's called magnetic plaster when it's not magnetic? ;-)
Shouldn't it be called "metal, that you can use magnets to stick stuff to it, plaster"?

Yes.... but you know what it is straight away :) lol

True, my suggestion wouldn't fit on the bag plus sounds a bit pony...

Trying to persuade the Mrs that we need a magnetic plaster wall in the kitchen so I can give it a try, and relieve my fridge door of the never ending stuff stuck to it =D>

It is a great product :) I think people will start using it more and that should bring the price down in time I am sure....

Is there an actual tutorial or demonstration for it? I've not used it yet but would be keen to and at that price i wouldnt want to mess it up?

Does it trowel up like multi?
Do you polish it? Can you splash water on it or is it nela territory only?

Whats the coverage of it? If its the size of an easy fill bag its almost 2 bags to a bag of multi? So @ £80 a bag its more like £160 for equal coverage to skim?

Get normal skim out of your head it's not the same thing it's applied to same without polishing it.

Beefy, just treat magnetic like skim coat but they set bit longer as got more depth, lay on tightly like durafinish , speedskim on first coat would help to flatten it and flexi on second coat - like flynny says - don't polish it otherwise paint won't soak in.

Your determined to make beefy stick aren't you lol

Dont polish it up :)

Its a doddle to use but dont try and get too much depth on (same as finish) as it goes a bit pete tong :)

Seems to me the most frequently asked question is.....why the feck is it so expensive....:rolleyes)

I've got a wall I'm doing this week if I get time but I don't understand why you don't polish it like normal coz it's gonna be painted so won't be slippery anymore, if you trowel normal finish it will dry the same as a wall that has t been polished but the same paint used, thoughts :)

It doesnt really polish up... it goes kinder grainy... It paints up the same but looks crap...

I will see if I can find a photo of one that I over polished... Camera is still at the property for now...lol

Would it of been a problem if you painted it?

I have not seen any issues yet... all walls are miss coated now... looks good infact I cant see the difference between magnetic and Multi

I a read don't over polish it because the magnet will slide but if it's painted the shine has gone and it will be like any other wall painted so I do t see the problem polishing it, did you say you redone one coz it was Over polished?

Nooo never redone it just painted it quick because it looked pants... painted up fine though...

Its really hard to explain how it goes...

To stop the magnets sliding blue grits the nuts :RpS_thumbup:

Yes flynnyman I have.getting pictures of jobs on my twitter and youtube(as u seen) has definitely help me to get customers to want to have it installed...when I say polish it up I don't mean throw water at the wall on the last cross trowel but I do trowel it till a mix is nearly dry..i (personally) can't leave it till it's just about set.i think if you do when painted it don't look how people want a finished wall to look when painted and I always test it with a magnet to see it is ok.on the trowel off I only add water to edges with a small brush just to get them in.I back at bunker next week doing more magnetic
