mono and log burner

Hi fellas,a builder i have just started working for has asked me if it would be ok to use mono around his log burner.the honest answer from me is,i do not know, so i said i would try to find out.any info would be much appreciated.
 
i did a fire pit ,fell off ,they had to redesign it with a higher fire reg ,then we mono it again :rolleyes)

Could you elaborate more on this please keith?
 
According to a fire installer I met regard k- rend as the best heat resistant material not parex or Weber etc I prefer 2coat render flat with mesh inbetween :RpS_thumbup:
