Just been to view a job, it's in parts maybe 4-5 mtrs high. Four flights of stairs. Cant scaffold it because of it being spiral. Anyone any ideas on how to set it out with ladders and battons.or any suggestions how to approach it safely. Have pictures but no idea how to post them

Use photo bucket to post them, or email them to fitz8@btinternet.com and I might..

Troweling up will be fun, just sit on the handrail at the top and whizz down with trowel on wall

I have a very methodical approach to jobs like this its the foook that and make myself unavailable system!!!!

don't earn a lot on em but sure as hell reduces the stress like:RpS_thumbsup:!!!!

you can scaffold anything mate, get a scaff to have a look,

sorry for hijacking thread....
@cassie....can I just pick your brain mate is there a way to erect scaffold that would enable you to work over a neighbours drive/garden but not actualy with anything touching if having an extension built????

basically its a drive that sits side by side with another house but wanting a garage/extension butting up to neighbours drive but the neighbours are a bit of a pain like

Thanks bud

yes, you can cantilever, various ways to do it, beams are the easiest.. but its no problem really.. is that what you mean mate ?

A long set of ladders it's simple enough, do one wall first then when that's dry lean your ladders against that, and a little tip put your jumper over the top of the ladders it stops you damaging the wall.

You can scaff that stairwell. Standard in the centre. Tie into the concrete steps. Ledger out so boards on a step to a ledger and repeat at different heights. Like a tree!!

Yeh should do mate, its not a standard job though and you have to take into account weight distribution. you cant just throw beams out, its got to be tied or kentledge weighted to stop the '' tip over '' beam jobs are defo left to a qualified scaffolder, by rights onlt an advanced qualified scaff should erect these jobs... you can bell me if you need any advice mate..

I think I'd be inclined to make a hop up come platform to fit over say 4/5 treads and risers (cutout to suit the staircase ) as it's a spiral they should all be the same measurement give or take, just over half the width of the staircase for access up and down (other people),you can then move it up and down the stairs as and when , pain in the arse I know but remember anyone can do the easy jobs:RpS_biggrin:, obviously I don't know the logistics of the job so might not work but have done something similar before
