I would rekin theres more suction onto bonding than boards and no blebs on boards ??? We have been tryin to suss out what causes them , been floating out walls and skimming lately same day just been straightening up with the bonding ( wonky walls) but been going over the full lot to keep suction the same . Any one else have any ideas why it blebs ?? Got us puzzled lol

Get your timing right means no blisters.

ct so you float while dinner, then you skim it and none of your walls are still a bit green, ok ill believe you , malc if I have to float/set bonding in same day I would do it the way you have said other than putting hardwall into it

would it not just take the high points knocking off first then a 50/50 bonding/multi coat followed by a normal 2nd coat or am I underestimating the job?:RpS_unsure:

it is impossible without seeing the project, but the op stated it was very heavy.

hi lads went to look at a job before, massive hall way and landing which seemed like never ending of meterage of that realy horrible heavy old'e english style plastering......real nasty. How would you guys approach dealing with it? if i remember correctly did spreads used to do it with browning? got the vibe other spreads had given the customer the wide birth.

Betakontakt and thistle onecoat might be an option for you :RpS_thumbup:

Hi lads, spoke to an old boy and he didn't even know what the correct title for this style of plastering was but it was in vogue in the 70's and 80s. No pics sorry. first coat in this case applied with skim as rough as a badgers ass then what seemed like about a million big heavy dabs of carlite finish applied on top. Remember labouring for some lads in the late 80's and they both coats with browning. Yeah the knocking off the dabs then betakon/pva then 50/50 bonding/multi would be the choice approach. Interesting to hear your theorys bout bonding/hardwall. Zombie, never used one coat but cheers. Cheers lads

if floating using bonding I like to give it a tight coat of hardwall aswell before setting, although the new bonding is pretty good to float, setting the straight bonding with 2 coats of finish avoids bubbling but takes longer, 6 of 1.

I think I know that plaster finish aswell looks like 1/4 swooshes of big heavy artex but on a wall, much heavier than on a ceiling, had to try and match in a wall like that once, was a pain.

jesus this straight forward jobs getting more complicating every time I log in! lol:RpS_laugh:

so let me get this straight where now up to applying a coat of bonding followed by a coat of hardwall followed by 2 coats of finish just to sort some heavy artex out **** me!!!

either knock snots off and pva then a apply a thick heavy 50/50 bonding/multi mix for your first and a normal second coat with finish or id be at my next job or if im lucky fising instead **** all that!!! jobs hard enough with out chucking 4 coats on a wall that's already been plastered!!!

alright calm down :RpS_lol:

I was replying to a bit about problems floating with bonding. tbf if you don't know how to sort that without asking on a forum you should give up.
