why should i have to serve a 5 year apprenticeship and some one else only goes on a 2 week corse ? these people are only trying to steal money from plasterers.

Depends on what u wanna do once qualified. If u wanna do the whole range of plastering jobs Inc all the new fancy external renders etc then yeah a 4 yr apprenticeship wud be best only as long as it covers all aspects of the job. If all u can do is board, a bit of floating and skimming then u have wasted five yrs of ur life cos the reality is that the basics of internal work can be learnt albeit not mastered in two or three weeks. All for all the naysayers there have been lads who have come off courses and done well. Although I agree to go from a course onto a private paying job is a no no.

b*ll***s you're not qualified to even answer

Behave soft lad. U telling me it takes fine yrs to learn to skim. Whilst the fella next to u has become a doctor in the same time.

Youll never know mate it's simple, if you walked onto a building site you'd last 2 days fair enough you choose to mug off mrs jones everyone needs to earn a living but you ain't a plasterer.

Spunky ur so dim u don't even read posts and understand them. I'm openly admitting I'm not a well rounded plasterer. There are so many aspects I have never touched and I never will. But I can do most internally stuff now to a good standard. So yes I charge for it. I have my Nvq , liability INS etc so I'm no cowboy. All I'm saying is that it has taken a lot less that 4 yrs to learn the little I know. If I want anything else doing I would hire that skill in for the job. Pointless spending yrs learning an aspect of the trade that u wud use once or twice a year

Good for you mate you're not a plasterer you never will be but along as you're happy then alls good :)

I'm quite new to this forum and i have to say that there are some total w*****s on here. I've never witnessed such bitchyness among grown men.

It is quite funny though i have to say!!!!!!

Over the last few weeks I have spent time on nimerous forums some social and some professional. I was even glancing at a tiling forum as and I cant believe how warm and welcoming to newcomers. They are willing to offer help and support with newbies. On here is a different matter. We have moderators then we have the inner sanctum of spunky world. He is so rude and unprofessional to anyone who is not in his clique. He rips into any one askin questions yet he is always on other parts of the forum asking other plasterers for help and guidance. Not sure why Danny allows it as this forum would have more new members and be more profitable for Danny if he was brought down a peg or two but he's been like that for years and nowt ever happens. Bit kike the forum bully everyone tries to please. Really weird.

Also I have never net any professional at the top of any game unwilling to offer guidance and support and pointers for those below them.

You are the lowest of the low you were on here 6 months ago asking what side of the bed to sleep on before you go to work you know **** all another **** who went on a course I ******* dispise you're type ******* chancer

Windy,I can see you're point of view mate, totally can. I am relatively new to the forum, I have never looked over any other forums so can't compare, just messin round on my pc and came across it, had a look and joined.but the way I see it is when I was growing up as a boy the building trade in general is rough n tough, banter and bitching is commonplace, that is what makes you as you grow older and a bit wiser, it makes you toughen up, in the buildin trade workin on various jobs, sites, big and small u meet some characters! I find the forum very similar, there have always been coursers, it's just right now the world is skint and work is tight all over, foreign workers puttin a squeeze on also, not enough work to go round, blame the government for the s**t state were in,tensions run high sometimes as for spunky he is one of the characters on this forum amongst others(too many to mention) an that's not me sookin up his arse, if u think that. There is some very good advice to be had on this site( some of it from spunky) and some very good banter also,Don't take to much of it to heart mate

I joined the forum for some advice on venetian plastering because i would love to get into that side of the job. I would just like to say that the guys that responded to my questions there were really welcoming and a great help.

Yes but who wants to work on site?

I probably earn what you earn in a week in 3 days on domestic.

nothing like a bit of modesty you smug ****. truth be told ul probably find that its actually the other way round you deluded bellend

Everything you say was spot on!!these clowns on here think thier engineers or pilots the way they talk!heartless two faced waste of space they are!they make out they are snowed under what b*ll***s!!.im 50 now an feel for young fellas coming thru now .this forum could do real good these sort of tossers need to be kicked off.encourage these fellas in to trade dont fear them you spineless fucks!

the only people that get ripped into are clueless idiots trying to tell people how clever they are that they can charge people money after completing a course. by the way sliemasteve is a nob so try getting out of his arse. and what gives you the impression these spinelss fucks fear people that cant plaster?bearing in mind that most have the intension of learning and doing domestic plastering and most on here are site based?

did u ever think it might be because your a ****? its just that most people are so fed up of idiots like you they cant be bothered to reply

I have concluded that "SPUNKY" is ether a comedian or a chump. I'm still trying to make my mind up lol!!!!!

When you ask a constructive question then this forum is the best place to be and its members very friendly and helpful. Tradesmen take pride in their work and are very protective over the trade that they have taken years to master. A 2 year course will not teach all aspects of any trade it only gives you a relatively small insight and a skill level up to DIY standard. Ask a serious question and a seasoned professional will be more than happy to pass on his or her advice and experience. dillusions of grandeur only alienates you!
