amazes me how people go on about all these gismos getting a skimmed wall flat.. its 2mm for fuks sake, if you cant get that flat with a normal trowel, you should pack in...

right then who wants to buy all my skimming gizmo's........................:RpS_cursing:

Cassie it's flattening the walls quicker not about getting them flatter

i cant see that mate, dont see how it can be that much quicker on your average job, suppose if theres 2 spreads and a labourer, then one following on my work..

watch the Knauf mp75 vid.. steel trowel, splash brush.. proper...lol.. if someone started fukin about wi a sponge on our jobs.. they;d be down rd quicker than tom daley diving out the closet...lol

Why not use a sponge Cassie

I use super flex. Just seems flatten a lot easier an better but don't know why. I use one stop plastic for quick blast at the end.

dont see the need really, universal one coat etc is the only thing that needs a sponge, if multi/board needs sponging, its gone war too far.. like you.ve lost control of it.. I have never seen any plasterer sponge up multi or board finish.. maybe the younger ones are into this ??

You don't sponge it when it's gone mate, anything else you can think of why you shouldn't use it

just opened me parcel that came today my new ss s*p*r*lex trowel, be interesting to use it, its not as flexible as i thought it would be so i think itll be fine for flattening in with:RpS_confused:

skimming, lay on and trowel up. straight from new.
my son thinks that the s*p*r*lex brings up more water then the mt. gold back. when we are working on a ceiling together you can see a difference between the two trowels.

im gonna have a count tomorow and see how many trowels ive got in my bag now haha i know its pretty much full now:RpS_unsure:

I had a ss super flex. Couldn't get on with it. Sold it to windy. Been gettin some nice results with the refina plazzy lately. Finishing a bit quicker too.

Is that on multi?, if you keep the water of it i think it finishes well.

i got it off handtools express dont think i paid anything for postage, if i want anything thats refina i order it off handtools

Hand tool express are selling them for £30 with an RRP of £53..........im assuming the RRP would be set by Refina but they are selling them for £32 (original trade price) sale price £25.

So HTE saying your saving £23 from the RRP is bollox...............or am i reading this wrong...................:RpS_unsure:

I'm lost on this thread!? only time I sponge anything is on external plain float render. its always interesting to read how you guys finish your plaster but I'm going to remain a stubborn old mule and stick to flatbrush (to flick bit of water on when needed) and my trusty stainless marshaltown. wouldn't mind seeing some of these other methods in practise tho? only way you learn new things?
