Nah but the rate was good and they seemed sound I'm gonna try and get on with them on another job once my first little one has come

Gibbo did he might tell you what happened if you PM him

I've never hidden from honest comments, Gibbo did come along to do it but the site didn't allow stilts and the joints needed paper tapping not scrimming which made it slower, but I'm sure the ones on the forum that are on site won't mind telling you they are covering good m2

Why the paper taping? Is fiibatape losing trust on site now,? We have been asked to use joint filler on our job prior to skimming

Some major contractors have decided paper tape is the better option epically on timber builds, we've found a quick way to overcome this slower system but it crazy IMHO

Quite simply to paint soaked papertape on with a paint brush using slurry mix. If anyone can show me or tell me a faster way I'm all ears :)

Banjo

Yes, obviously a banjo is the tool for the job but I was responding to walking onto a job and finding out they want it paper tapped when you geared up for plastering it. But yes you are absolutly right that the fasted way would be a banjo !
Been years since I used paper tape, starting to fall out with fibatape especially in new build. No clue what a banjo is in this work..

I think we did at one stage pva tape on after damping same with pva on the underside, got the odd bubble.

However having used both a banjo and brushed on with a brush n slurry I recon I could tape up quicker with the brush when prepping for plastering

We used to soak the paper tape, then use an angle trowel on ceiling lines and internals to flatten it in ...Worked for us

If I have to use paper tape I find using a caulking tool as we did in the old days of Artexing to be quickest. I'd be wary of sticking the tapes up with a slurry as this will obviously be weak. Many Artex tapes came down because they were put up with little more than a slurry.

Its not the taping they got me a firm i worked for 15 years its all they would use just not into pushing towers around been there before

I take it that even if you had RAMS for the stilts they were having none of it?

There's no short cuts to taping and as you all know if you do it properly first time then there are rarely any failures. The system though only pays on private work as it's too time consuming on the prices given on site work. There is a product called wet'n' stick that has glue already on the paper tapes, you soak in water then stick and can skim within 20 mins.
Ideally the scrim should be stronger and a little wider with no fraying but as said in another thread it's hard to find.

Nob heads!

Spray it and use speedskims and superflexs on poles :)

They love no working at hight issues at all then!

Might have to if they ask for it on site, easy enough, just slows you down initially, but a labourer could tape in front of you for the next hit.
