Straight away on first, lay on second as you would normally, then speedskim again, just flatten, don't pull any off, leave to pull in and trowel or spat as you always did.suits big flat areas,

Gibbo runs a speedskim and plazzi course now that he's left the forum. u should give him a bell and see if he has any places left...................:RpS_thumbsup:

lay on first coat flatten straight away with speedskim, layon second coat straight away, flatten with speed skim, trowel up with plazzi 3 times job done

as a 53 year old spread looked at speedskim thought I would buy a 1200 and give it a go, it saves a lot of time flattening and is easy to use, even on ceilings with the right attachment on a painters roller pole, piece of p... flatten off as soon as you lay both coats, theres a vid on youtube. think of a darby only thinner material and no handles

Weird he didn't feel the need to reinvent himself the 3 years he was on here before everyone had a pop at him for telling all the plastic people with no idea a little bit of the truth

I have been using the SpeedSkim for a while now and I save about 40 minutes a day with a standard 3 hits. I would recommend using this tool, its awesome when you get used to it, they are bringing out a stainless steel blade for it and I for one will be buying it.
My method is; Mix up first bucket quite creamy, if it slops out on your board its too wet,I use a bucket trowel. Lay up as normal and run the speedSkim across the wall ( lovely for getting over the humps some people expect you to get over) then use your trowel and wet brush to clean ceiling lines and wall edges, Mix up half again and and repeat the process. Let it pick in and give it a flatner with your trowel. You will notice that nearly every application is near perfect which means no more snags no more scrim showing through and no more bitchin from the painters.

Opinions vary. I can use them well enough. Some cant - Obviously

looks like he's another man u fan not from manchester..........says it all spunkster...........:rolleyes)

Are you that much of a gimp your gonna make off topic comments about something you could of checked first? I am a Manchester United fan and guess what? I am from Manchester so what joke or put down are you going to come out with now? The topic is Speedskim but as your probably a two bit, working for someone else and making them rich shite plasterer you probably cant afford one let alone ever used one.
You resort to insults on a forum that is designed for real plasterers with real questions and more importantly real experiences of tools and plastering products, you spend too much time on your phone sitting around having a laugh with your nob head mates. Get a grip mate, learn about what you want to comment on and if you dont know something .... Ask me.

maybe he was the first one to use one but that doesn't mean he knows what he doing with it. All the gear and no idea. Coming out with a statement like "i bet you use one because you can't use a trowel" is not only immature but thick. Obviously I use it because its quicker. fact. The work I produce is top quality. Fact.
I have contracts for big companies, I employ a
pprentices and employ self-employed spreads, I sit in meetings, I listen to what Rep's say, I work on site on price and show my men how to use materials and show them new techniques, my client base is growing weekly and he comes on here and says "There a load of b*ll***s". Well thank you for your input "spunky". We can all breath a sigh of relief knowing we can come to you for an intelligent informed opinion.

Do the guys who work for you mufc know you think their two bit shite plasterers making you rich dont think they would be happy

when is the best time to get on it ? Straight afta layi g on ? Or let it pick up ?

Hi mate - just talking to Danny about posting our 'How To' guides so members like yourself can be directed to them when they have a question. The golden rule is to Speedskim over the plaster straight after application. The soft PVC blade reduces the amount of water brought to the surface. This reduction in surface moisture then allows the second coat to go on straight away. Once second coat has been applied - then Speedskim over straight away.

The plaster then sits nicely and you will find you're not having to rush around as much. This is what customers regularly feed back to us..

Let it pick up and finish using your preferred methods.

Hope this is helpful.. :) if you do have any queries and would like to talk to us please give us a call on 0845 6000 227

Scott, any progress with the new finishing blade??

Scott, any progress with the new finishing blade??

Hi mate - yeah we are getting there. Has been taking up most of my time so haven't been on TPF much.. Have had some design difficulties with the blade/slot but all ironed out now. First parts should be available in around 3/4 weeks (fingers crossed no snags). Apologies its taken a little longer than we thought...

:)

Will the new blade fit the existing or will you have to buy a new unit?

Hi there mate

The new finishing blades will fit our existing handles (which in some ways is versatile) but we think swapping them over during the work will be time consuming and unrealistic.

Our recommendation to increase your hits and reduce the time it takes to complete areas is to have two units on the go. This is obviously an investment the Plasterer has to make, but for the cost of the second unit the benefits will be very considerable...

We are available to talk if anyone is unsure of the benefits of using the two blades - and how they complement each other to get best results..

Hope this is helpful :)
