sand cement

For 10mm i reckon u could spray CPI general purpose @12mm one coat and ibeam back and sponge. Was testing it out when using it internally and next day could scrap back and get good finish with a sponge. it didnt go bald at all

Sounds good that... Kind of hits the nail on the head though. It's all....'I reckon', 'have you tried?' What about..' There's a proper need for a specifically designed product that is modern and sprayable as an efficient sand & cement alternative that competes coastwise, not a daft price(Parex!)
This new CPI product sounds promising. What's it called?

The answer lies in a render that lets you spray loads on like mono but is r******d enough to I section and float next day, not scrape. Not coloured, grey(cheap). Somebody give the people what they want!!! I'd do a million metres of it domestically as things have slipped back to traditional since mono has a bad wrap for getting dirty

If its coloured though goody I could imagine a few problems sponging unless you catch it green, how do you lads use an I section with sand cement do you open it up like mono or just take the high spots off, if you're just taking high spots off does it tear?

Cpi have the cheapest product available at £3.80 a bag. To ship a pallet around costs around £50-60 which works out at £1.50 a bag. Cpi would price their gear at the worst case scenario which leaves you £2.30 to source the product, dry it and blend it, package it,advertise it and pay all the staff.

agree :RpS_thumbup:

Spunk all sprayable bagged gear goes off slower than traditional also. Something to consider. Plus you can't alter your waterproofed content in the scratch.

Also I think a CPi type product to I section and sponge is risky as ****. If u had to leave it over night and the wind caught it you'd have some problems. Monos only good coz you use a scratch pad. A float or sponge is a different story I think

Envirowall has a coloured render. Not tried it yet but the rep said you have to catch it all at the same time to get even colour and you cannot spray it with water as the water leaves a stain.

i sprayed cpi from 8.30-12 the other day.i ruled as i went along getting as flat as poss.then stoped for some grub for 30 mins.when i dropped back to i section, just to open up ready for floating,it was bloody rock hard.it was a long afternoon of floating and a i had 2 pull in 2 more of my guys from another job and were all floating like fuk to get it all rubbed up.it does come back with water but its graft.
used cpi 4/5 times now its getting user.best to float wet, rather than hard in my opinion.

This new CPI gear would surely have a retarder in it over gp? Basically what were after is a monorex gf in grey that's mass produced and tuned for floating not scratching. OCR price not mono. Come on Parex there's a ready market for a SPECIFIC product. They could easily make one... Probably too precious about potential monorex sales lost.

You need to work this stuff when wetter. You will be surprised how quick you can get a sponge on it. Its do able whenstill a lot more rubbery the standard s+c

Surely that's Parmurex? I have 10 bags to play with so will do a over night test in our lock up. Trouble is the cost at £7 a bag its double CPI. CPI DOES I beam/scratch back and rub with a damp sponge the next day, It just having the balls to do it on someones house the first time! Their new "One Coat" should be better as it can go on in one go up to 22mm like mono. Would help having it nice and chunky to allow for a good 3-4mm to be taken of to expose nice geen gear.

I sectioning mught be ok overnight in the colder months but in the warmer months?

Might be ok if the wall is going to have bucket stuff afterwards. Just I section and leave it.

Parex import all their gear. If it costs 60 a pallet to shift from their depot around britain it will cost at least that to ship from france. Thats £3 a bag on haulage. Parmurex is gonna be about £4.50 before its left france and thats if it goes direct from the factory. add in all the other costs and its less likely we will see a cheap SC product from parex. Unless they start manufacturing here

was that one or two coats bobby?

at the moment mate I think were going to scratch with the machine and do the top by hand

Bobby, would you still I section but jump on it sooner or are you ruling as traditional. Would you say the guy on the rule's better off falling back to float 2/3 the way through a spray and the gun man sprays and rules the last third to finish off?

Is was the second coat that went of like a rocket bit weird ain't it I thought there was loads of waterproofed in CPI?

Ey spunky I got a CPI/parmurex sprayed smooth finish to do in what can only be described as a training wall of a retainer in the garden(grounds!) of the ewi job I been working on. It's 28 x 2.75m in one long run with no obstacles. If you wanna come down and help out and suss it all out on the job let me know. All the questions your asking apply to this really. I reckon the lot can be sprayed in the afternoon and I sectioned next day. Will soak blocks in morn prior but I'm twitchy about it being too hard. If go for rule and float then it might be two days. Another option might be to break it in two and spray early isectioning later and floating.

I'm absolutely flat out at the mo mate im working all weekend then into price work, thanks anyway though , if you do do still do it and are struggling for a hand give me a weeks notice just in case anything changes my end

Its warming up too I can see why you're twitchy, have you tried a little test panel? Or maybe a test panel closer to the time

goody i know u have been involved in using your machine for alot longer than me but i reckon leaving it over nite is a big no no.basically its just s&c in a bag.would you of left it over nite if u hand applied years back?
maybe in the coolest of months, spraying late afternoon.it will be rock hard in the morning im sure of that.
i sprayed the scratch coat 3 weeks b4 topping and it was barely floatable after 5 hours, even though it has high waterproof content.
seems to me like the best system is spray early, then drop back and finish after.all done b4 home time

Best system is - Bash the whole house on

One coat 2 passes full mesh
rule it, spat it, tidy up
Piss off home/pub -

Come back early

I beam it/scratch it back flat
sponge it up
Clean up
Get paid

Piss of home/pub
